Home to the largest musical library in the country, EMI (Pakistan) Ltd commenced its journey in 1948 as “The Gramophone Company of Pakistan”, with full shareholding of His Master’s Voice (HMV) Group UK. Subsequent to the divestment of the EMI UK Group in 1991, the company adopted its current name EMI (Pakistan) Ltd in 1993.
Our extensive archival records consist of tracks from a variety of genres ranging from Ghazals, Qawwalis, Pure Eastern Classical music, Popular (Pop) music as it changed from time to time, Instrumentals, Films soundtracks, Folk Music, etc. The repertoire of tracks is over 60,000 unique gems and the library continues to grow.

کبھی کہیں پر سنا ہے تم نے؟ کہ کوئی اپنےپرانے کپڑے، کہیں غریبوں میں بانٹ دے اور پھر کبھی ان سے جا کہ پوچھے “کہ کس نے پہنا وہ سرخ جوڑا وہ سبز چادر کسے ملی تھی کسے ملی میری نیلی جیکٹ؟” نہیں سنا ناں؟ کسی کو فرصت نہیں ہے لڑکے کہ خستہ کپڑوں کے روگ پالے پرانی اشیاء پہ بین ڈالے یا اپنی اترن کے بھید رکھے کبھی کہیں پر سنا ہے تم نے؟ کہ کوئی تھک کر کسی پیارے کو دور جنگل میں چھوڑ آئے تو مڑ کے دیکھے؟ یا چند سالوں کے بعد واپس وہیں پہ لوٹے وہ جس کو چھوڑا تھا لینے آئے؟ نہیں سنا ناں؟ کسی کو حاجت نہیں ہے لڑکے کہ رفتگاں کا غذاب جھیلے پرانی بازی کو پھر سے کھیلے کسی کے ہونے کو اپنے جینے کی شرط کرلے اسی لیے تو مجھے یہ بالکل فکر نہیں ہے کہاں پہ تمہاری عمر بیتی یا کیسی حالت میں وقت کاٹا بچھڑ کے مجھ سے کسے ملے تم مجھے یہ بالکل فکر نہیں ہے کہ میری اترن کو کس نے پہنا!! 💔💔💔💔
Papa Jee used to sing this for me a lot. We would sit outside in the garage on the charpai under the lovely sun and he would have his Red JBL speaker with him and he would sing along with his favourite song but this one in particular he would sing and then translate and explain to me, he passed away a month ago and it feels unreal, I don’t think I’ve processed it yet properly or maybe my brain like always, has shut off to prevent another breakdown
