I agree 💯 MJ is #1 Kobe # 2. Honestly I’m not a Lebron fan. He’s not even in my top 10. For all you Lebron fans. Why do you think Lebron wore 23? 😂 Lebron deep down inside knows MJ is GOAT
I totally agree boss. Kobe Bean is the closest you'll get to the goat as we will ever see. He doesn't have the hardware like Mike, but we all know the relationship between him and the media. Lot of those awards are popularity based anyway, It's no secret! I challenge anyone to tell me who's beaten more 50,60,70 win teams in the playoffs with less than MJ or Kobe. I'll wait......... And before anyone says Shaq carried him, let's remember Shaq never won anything til Kobe. Keep in mind, Shaq got swept in the 94 - 95 finals as well the 96 - 97 eastern conference finals. By who? Funny you should ask. It's none other than Michael Jeffrey Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. Kobe being unguardable allowed the Lakers and Shaq to shine brighter. The output of both players during those runs is not that far apart, debunking the carry narrative. So, yeah bro Kobe has a better argument than any of these other clowns the media would lead these sheep to believe, lol!
Kobe's reputation is only going to get better with time. Even now, there are more and more videos from pros talking about how good he was and how much they respected him.
You can have favorites all day long, but factual truth sets people apart.... FAR apart....... YOU have no clue, and that's fine, but uh... Kobe is several rungs down the ladder from where Bird is on the "Greatness ladder".......
You are far too young to have been there to experience and realize how great Larry Legend really was... Even in his last years when his body was finished, ha was smoking M Jordan and all other comers at Jordan''s appearing on the NBA scene... and Larry was no ball hog like your other favorites.... He made team mates around him great players also.... He was one of the best if NOT the best passer the game has ever seen... He had natural Globetrotter passing skills that NO one could rival in the NBA.... and even in his short career, there is nobody that could rival him today.... Kobe couldn't TOUCH the Legend... Larry Bird would DESSIMATE the touch butt league you watch today... In Bird's day, men came off the court many times needing stitches.... and 7 out of 10 times the player went to the locker room, got stitched up to stop the bleeding, and came back to finish the game... Today? A player sprains a pinky or gets a scratch or rug burn from falling down and gets embarrassed? They'll miss 2-3 games just for their bloated egos and hurt feelings... Sorry youngster..... Kobe is only over rated due to the accident... Out on the court, Larry would have man handled him like he man handled EVERYbody.. You have no idea... Stats do not tell a complete story, but many people turn to them when they're in but, but, but, what about, but, but mode.... Take Larry the Legend Bird's 4 best years and compare ANYbody..... ANYBODY ELSE'S 4 best years from back in the 70's all the way to today..... You go do that... It'll be one of the most educating things you could ever do for yourself on this subject.... Larry Bird farted out Kobe Bryants all day long...
You should see the Playoff game against the Detroit Pistons and Robert Parrish punch Bill laimbeer and NOT EVEN A FOUL WAS CALLED. No blood, no FOUL. Detroit Pistons, Bill laimbeer was a DIRTY PLAYER.
Thanks for showing this - it’s a era of hoops I just don’t think will be bettered - the NBA needs more ‘special’ characters - it’s not just about the game!
Not only is Bird in my top 5, he is my top all time player, period. If there was a draft today with any rookie in NBA history, Bird is my #1 pick, Jordan a close 2nd. Since you love Kobe, I'm sure you will appreciate his top starting 5. ru-vid.com3PDYoDJ_Ta0
I feel privileged to have seeing Bird and Magic (who doesn’t get the love he deserves!) at the very start. It totally got me into the NBA. I attribute the soft game today by pushing the physicality too far w The Detroit Pistons of the late 80’s… that and the overemphasis of the 3 point shot. I would love to see the stars of today take on yesterday’s stars back then. Who knows how better or worse LBJ would be going up against the likes of Jordan?
Bird was the blueprint for every player after him. His game can be seen everywhere including in MJ after Larry retired. He doesn't get anywhere near enough credit.
💯 , MJ AND BIRD , 1 AND 2 CO GREATS , Everyone who argues for LeBron is overlooking the mental toughness the full contact game required, until an athlete is tested with the type of game that was Played in the 80s /90s , it's disingenuous to assume a LeBron would thrive then , If the 80s 90s players were playing in the current game , they would absolutely dominate, LeBron would be an all star , but he wouldn't get a sniff of mvp
I’m a Kobe fan as well and I’m not trying to change your mind just stating fact. It is true that Kobe averaged 1 more point per game than Bird but Bird averaged more rebounds per game, more assists per game, more steals per game, more blocks per game, shot a better percentage from the field, a better percentage from long range and a better percentage from the free throw line. Although both were very clutch having watched both Bird was just more clutch. In fact I would say the clutches of all time.
Here is another fact. One way to measure the greatness of a player is how much there team suffers when they are not there to play. In 93/94 when Jordan left to play baseball the Bulls only dropped 2 games compared to the year before. In 88/89 when Bird sat out all but 6 games the Celtics dropped 15 games compared to the year before. This is a fact. Now which team do you think need there super star more?
@@jacobmarcschafer1720 lol there are so many good arguments for so many great players. For me and my studies I narrowed it down to three at three different positions. Bird, Jordan and Kareem. You look at what Kareem did from high school to the pros and man he was really something.
They say that in the early years Bird beat Jordan because he had the better team. That being said when Jordan came into the league his Chicago team had no worse record than when Bird came into the league. Truth be told when Birds back was gone and he had to be in traction before and after the games he was still beating Jordan and giving him a run for his money
Yes, when Bird entered the NBA as a rookie, he inherited the worst Celtics team in history with a 29-53 record, the 2nd worst in the league. By just adding Bird to that aging starting lineup, they ended up with a 61-21 record, best in that year, and eventually lost to Dr. J in the Eastern Conference Finals. THAT was Bird's rookie year. And Jordan, great player he was, couldn't do the same with his Bulls, it took years for him to learn how to make his teammates better and win.
In the 80s they were talking about how non-physical the game had become since the 60s. The difference between the 60s game and the 80s game though, was nothing compared to the deifference between the 80s game and the 2000s game, let alone the 2020s game, though.
What? You couldn't make the screen at least as big as you are! . What did we get, some GIANT creator hogging the screen. I think you thought viewers wanted to see you more than Larry and the Celtics. Sheesh! Get real. Still, great video, but try to get over yourself and understand only your mother would want to see you so GIANT SIZED!
Most young people are so impressed with dunks and logo shooting nowadays. And so they have a top ten best players in history who are mostly physically superior and Bird is not about that. He is just the smartest player i have seen who sees the whole court and the players on it, and knows what to do to win the game. From basketball as a team sport standpoint and without disrespecting the great of the game, I honestly believe that Larry Bird is the best by far.
@@jacobmarcschafer1720 I saw bird play once in Orlando Florida in Shaquille O’Neil rookie year. It was end of bird’s career. I remember end of the game he got a farewell standing ovation from the crowd. I had goosebumps. I will never forget that night
I edited this video putting all Lakers' legends together (Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Magic Johnson,Lebron James, Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, George Mikan,James Worthy) .ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z-DT3mNf90M.htmlsi=cGNrmuCPevmQlnu9
Bird and Magic were complete players ......Kobe Bryant needed lots of help to win......all the Celtics needed to go from 29-53 to 61-21 in his first season was Larry Bird.....no Parrish no McHale no Dennis Johnston...it was all Larry
Wilt was a freak of nature for sure, but for all-around greatness in all facets of the game, court I.Q., and winning championships, Bird’s got the edge.
I've never seen this video before. I could tell you enjoyed it. Every time I watch one of these I'm amazed at people that don't even put him in their top ten. One of the things I really like about Larry is he gives credit to all the great players.
keep in mind jordan was 0-6 againt larry in the playoffs- losing in a sweep both times- also bird had a winning record against jordan all time in reg season games against chi
never saw Jordan do anything that Kobe couldn't do... known to be true as most people will say he copied MJs game. (which if he is able to do is incredible on its own) ... but I have in fact seen Kobe make a few improvised plays that i have not even seen the great Michael Jordan pull off. That being said, no one will ever convince me that Jordan, Kobe, Magic, Bird, Kareem, and Dr. Julius Irving don't intertwine into that #1 tier. (no single player is "the goat" that's a mythical creature).
