Tears in my eyes. First album I ever bought . Tears .. because of all that was and all that is … the texture of all the ‘in between’ of my years. All 58 years of them.
To understand the lyrics, you would have to have watched the TV show. It’s a very astute song to my generation growing up with Rush and the Twilight Zone reruns.
Tony iommi (eye-OWE-me), the lead guitarist and music writer. It's not about addiction. It's about mental illness like megalomania, and schizophrenia, which is actually mentioned in the song.
"Sudden hush across the water, and we're here again" Amazing lyrics. All The Cure's albums you can listen to start to end and you will replay it again. No bad songs. Robert Smith is a genius.
It's a shame you have stopped reacting josh. There are many reactors out there, but very few are true music lovers. Your love of good music is written all over your face when you react. Give some thought to doing it again. 👍🏻
I remember hearing an interview with Geddy many years ago,...and he was talking about the creation of the song. He said they had everything, but just needed the ending part. He said Alex just came up with that solo out of nowhere. Geddy said he was blown away first time he heard it!!
This Album saved my sanity while serving in the Navy !! The perfect album for us sailors tossing about in the North Atlantic in an October Storm . A thinking and feeling persons album , nothing better for the soul 🎼🫡🇺🇸🌊⚓
I was asked by a couple (in the 70's) to babysit their st bernard for a night. the husband gave me a tape with this album, steely dan's 'pretzel logic' on the flipside. was hooked on them both, immediately!
Bruford liked to improvise way too much for Genesis it wasn't a good fit, King Crimson on the other hand all they did was improvise so it was a great fit. I like Yes better than both bands, I think they got it just right for a few albums until Bill left. The album after Close To the Edge is yes's finest without Bruford in my opinion.
Alan White is an incredible drummer and I do love him too as a drummer but Yes just swings so much more with Bruford, to me there's a big difference in their sound.
Best musical rock opera story ever told about a future civilization, the loss of music, the discovery of music and the eventual conflict that arises and brings music back
I've listened to this song over and over for my whole adult life, and yet it never gets old. I'm 70 now and I still hear something I hadn't previously noticed, each & every time.
There’s a part in this song where you can hear a cello player packing up his cello 😂 jeff thought it was funny so left it in The reason he was packing up was because of the unions back then so if the orchestra was book until say 4:00 they packed up at dead on 4:00 regardless if they were in the middle of playing
...I guess had I not been there, this would BLOW MY MIND...but this was typical Top 40 Rock Music in the mid-late 1970's. What we have today is not even close to the artistic and creative equivalent to what music was BEFORE the internet, Social Media, or streaming. You had to buy decent equipment, sit your ass down, and LISTEN to the music! Different time.
