It depends on the style of head covering. We use soft stretchy interlock or jersey knit for the turbans and beanies. Some styles like our courage cap(doo-rag) is cotton, and any soft yarn for crochet and knit head coverings.
I would start by trimming 1/2" off the curved part of the pattern. That would make it an average child size. Trim down accordingly for smaller head size.
Hi Linda. That is wonderful! Are you able to supply your own fabric or do you need us to assist you? Please reply on our email turbanproject@outlook.com God bless. Kathy
Hi Linda, If you would like to sew for us, we can send you a starter kit. We have an updated version of our turban that is more stylish and easier to sew. We would send you completed samples of the items we sew (turban, courage cap, beanie, facemask), patterns, instructions, 5 precut ready to sew fabrics, and supplies. You are encouraged to donate them to a local treatment center or you can mail them back to us to distribute. You can choose to sew your favorite or all of them. Your choice. Zero pressure. When you need more supplies, just contact us. Please request this through our website under "contact". You may also use our email turbanproject@outlook.com Thank you for wanting to make a difference. God bless, Kathy
Hi Pamela. Please email turbanproject@outlook.com with your request. Include name, mailing address, favorite colors, animals, hobbies, sports, etc. Stay safe & strong! God bless. Kathy
Hi Vee. As long as you have the one inch opening and can run heavy thread through the "channel" the offset it shouldn't matter. I'm not certain if this helps. You may call me, also, to talk about it so I can understand the problem. 740-504-6133
I enjoyed your video. I can only see your sewing machine from the back but it looks exactly like mine. It's a Sears Kenmore probably purchased new in the early 70's. Mine belonged to my mother.
Hi Wendy. Yes it is a Sears Kenmore that I purchased in the early 70's! It has straight stitch and zigzag...all we need for our creations. If you are watching this video, I'm wondering if you need any of our completed head wear for yourself or someone else? We can send you free completed ones, if you like. Stay safe & God bless. Kathy :)
Hi Cathryn. Are you wanting completed headwear for yourself or someone you know or are you wanting to sew and donate them to your local treatment center? Either way we can help to a certain degree.
@@cathrynmartin2189 thank you for reaching out and prayers for the journey you are on. Please email me turbanproject@outlook.com with the name, mailing address, phone number, and email. Any favorite colors, hobbies, animals, sports? I'll get back with you.
Hello Mrs. Kathy! My name is Raquel. I hope you are doing well. My daughter Martha is going thru Chemo, I would love to receive some of the turbans please, if there is possible, thank you in advance. GOD bless you and all the people whose are helping in this amazing and beautiful project you have. May the Lord reward you all. Blessings.
Hi Raquel. I just saw this request and don't see where I responded to you. Prayers for your daughter Martha. Do you still need head wear for her? You may email me turbanproject@outlook.com
Hi Susan. Thank you for reaching out and prayers for the journey your sister & family are on. Please email turbanproject@outlook.com with the name and mailing address for us to send a variety of our creations to. We are happy to send our free blessed headwear to her. Also, through our website turbanproject.com Stay safe & God bless. Kathy :)
Thank you for this tutorial - your instructions are very clear and easy to follow. I have copied the written instructions too so I'll have them to follow when I sew turbans for my sister.
Wonderful! The more people who sew, the more patients we can help. Please contact us on our email, for privacy, saying you would like a starter kit. We need the name & address. You will be making a difference! Stay safe & God bless. :)
Hi Wafaa. If you are in the USA, we can send you a starter kit for the two different turbans we create. It contains a sample of each, pattern, instructions, and thread, if you need it. You mentioned you make very nice turbans. Do you want to use your own pattern? If you sew under our name, we can supply you with the fabric. Where are you located?
@@wafaayounis8724 Please email me at turbanproject@outlook.com your name and mailing address. Put in the email that you would like a starter kit for both of the turbans we make. Once we receive your mailing address we can ship it out. God bless. Kathy :)
@@kathybraidich1089 Can you please send me the sample of each the turban and the courage cap for the adult...the fabric for me to make...I have a friend that needs these and asked me to make her some.
Kathy, have followed the download pattern, and have made several. The first came out perfect! So, from another section of the same patterned material, I cut the second, using the same pattern. This time, though, the turban came out so wide at the bottom!! Too loose fitting!! I threaded a piece of material through the hem, making it more cap like. The third one i cut from a different material, and for some reason, it seemsas though it's too shallow to sit on the head, no depth, and still a bit loose at the hem. Help!! These are for my sister, a stage 4 breast cancer patient as she is on maintenance doses of chemo.
Hi Janet. I think you are cutting it incorrectly and have turned the fabric enough that you are mistaking it as being correct but it isn't. You may call me if it helps. It is so important that when you cut the fabric it is on the fold with stretch on the bottom. We would also be happy to send you completed turbans for your sister, if you like. 740-504-6133
Hi Matador. I apologize. I didn't see this comment until today. Forgive me. If you are in the USA, we can send you a starter kit for the two different turbans we create. It contains a sample of each, pattern, instructions, and thread, if you need it. Is this something you would like to try?
This is sweet, but why don't hospitals and clinics do this for women with ciatrical alopecia?!? Ciatrical alopecia patients deal with the pain of living with an autoimmune disorder, and have PERMANENT hair loss. It is beyond me why women who suffer from alopecia don't have this kind of support from the medical community, yet they spend thousands upon thousands of dollars for various medications, doctor's visits, vitamins, supplements, and more natural diets to try to stop the painful burning and loss of hair follicles. Please advocate for ALL women who suffer from hair loss, whether it be gentic, chemo related, or from various autoimmune disorders. Thank you!
If you notice we do try to reach those with alopecia and have helped countless who reach out to us. If you would like some, completely free of charge please look at our website and contact us through there with the styles you would like. God bless.
I sew for Ryan's Case for Smiles making pillowcases and Days for Girls making reusable menstrual pads. I would love to get involved with this project as well. I'll check out the website. Thank you for sharing your skill and time!
Thank you for your tutorials i am just starting out on sewing . Please kathy can you give me sizes of materials for masks and turban . Thank you .wonderful caring thing you are doing . I am a recovering patient so look forward to trying some
Hi Edie. Please go to our website www.turbanproject.com and in the drop down box at the top of the page on the right you will see patterns. It has printable true size patterns and instructions. You will probably have to go to a print/office supply shop for the true size. You can also follow the instructions and it tells the size of the fabric and how to cut it. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions. God bless. :)
hello ok thank you very much I was hoping you would film how for the sewing machine in your first video if you would possible film it when you get a chance please ok? Thank you very much
hello very nice of you to make these for the people who need them I whish you would film how to thread setup and operate the sewing machine please ok? Please kindly reply back ok? Thank you very much
Hi Frank. Every sewing machine brand threads differently. If you have a manual for your machine it will tell you how. If you don't you can probably view one on line under the manufacturer's name and sewing machine model number. Hope this will help you. God bless.
Hi Sharon. I'm so sorry I just saw this and your request was from almost a year ago. If you are still interested please email me at turbanproject@outlook.com and give me the mailing address you would like me to send it. We will send you all supplies. Precut ready sew fabric and supplies. Zero cost to you. Again, I apologize.
