The neck is so long because I like it when dolls have elongated proportions and I find long necks especially appealing.

Hello, i just discovered your channel, i love your dolls and your style, i’ve been trying different air dry clay for my doll project and still haven’t find a brand with really good quality for mold making, can you suggest a brand for me to try? 😊 thank you !!
@dorotesdolls
@dorotesdolls 2 месяца назад
Oh thank you! The thing with air-dry clay - it must be sealed well so the mold doesn't stick to the surface of the model. I myself rarely make molds from air dry clay models as I prefer this material for unique pieces.

What rotary tool do you use to be able to work on the porcelain at (I’m assuming) such delicate speeds? I would have thought it would eat it up if it’s not been fired yet! 😮
@dorotesdolls
@dorotesdolls 4 месяца назад
It's a high speed rotary tool with a diamond tip and the porcelain here was fired to the final hardiness. I am making these dolls from bone china, it's kind of a tricky material - tends to deform a lot at high temperature so I do final sanding after high firing.
@victoriavidaud
@victoriavidaud 4 месяца назад
@@dorotesdolls oh, okay! I’ve mostly seen porcelain doll work retouching on it before it’s fired, for some reason I didn’t think you could actually sand fired porcelain 😅

Dorote! Just yesterday I received my a Tiny Tender Demon! She is not painted, or decorated. I bought her second hand off ebay, Yes, she is an original. She is so all and delicate! How I will proceed with her, I don't yet know. I do have several of your tutorials so I think I will be able to cloth her..lol. A face up and body blush though... that will take time to decide, and time to gain skill or find an artist. I'm so excited to have found the opportunity to own one of your creations. You are one of my first and greatest inspirations in bjd art dolls. Quite the moment!
@dorotesdolls

wow! You are so lucky! Only a handful of them were sold blank, so it's a really rare find. Check this link - it's a corset pattern that I have made for the Tiny Tender Demons. You can use it if you like. :) www.flickr.com/photos/handmadebjd/45813972012/in/dateposted-public/

How come some artist go for a 3-part mould vs a 2-part? Would a 2-part be impossible, or just a bit more problematic?
@dorotesdolls
@dorotesdolls Год назад
The shape of the model dictates how many pieces you need. I sculpt the heads in a way that requires at least 3 part mold. Sometimes it can be way more parts than that. If I would want a complete sculpture with ears, I would probably need 5 or 6 part mold. I could also simplify the sculpture and go for the 2 part mold, but I don't want to :)
