A channel about New York state's Oneida County, and the Copper City...Rome, New York. Over 600 videos of travels. Go ahead and scroll through or use the search. RU-vid, refuses to monetize my channel. I've desperately been trying for years. Too many outside interferences. Videos of Pennsylvania travels and Massachusetts. Down-to-earth videos. No fancy editing, or preposterous thumbnails. My videos. What I see is what you see. No manipulation. Traveling towards or visiting the Copper City of Rome, New York, then check-out Going Somewhere channel.
Agreed. Rome, NY would do much business with a all-night diner on Griffiss, provided a few more warehouses become operational. But how would the city handle the extra business, at night, on West Dominick and/or North James street? More business...more police...more cost. Politicians and locals wealthy residents are living a fantasy, believing West Dominick, can be a Main Street like Saratoga Springs, or have a actual nightlife such as Bourbon Street. City Council, just does not want the headaches and crime, that come with more people in a bustling nightlife. The city gets plenty of federal/state dollars, every year with the intrusion of low-income housing, and accepting migrants and illegal immigrants.
Hello! Altthough, I respect the Filmer for his efforts to document the destruction of your community by July's EF2 tornado his negative comments about RPD & members of LE are not appropriate. Just my humble 2 cents. Be safe! Best, Mike
It's evident at night, on the entire trail. The homeless. You can smell marijuana, coming from the woods. Some camps are loaded with liquor bottles. Most with any trash, not secured or locked-up. Doubt the city nor state will do a thing but handout vouchers in Winter, for free motel/hotel rooms. Most get food stamps. All are drug addicts. Good flyfishing on the Mohawk River.
The YMCA, construction project on Floyd Avenue, is cancelled. Too costly, is the title. Must be many idiots, controlling what happens. You, DO NOT, begin a project, without having all the funding, in place. YMCA, did not. Instead, the current location of West Bloomfield, will receive improvements. And that is where the Y, needs to stay. No resident appreciated the idea of the YMCA, being on Floyd Avenue. Certainly, the landscaped space will not be used for high-class apartments(better than low-income), or better yet...a mult-level building for various businesses. But it'll probably become another costly and unnecessary city park.
Hochul doesnt care about what hell we went thru. Shes spending her time on vacation and not paying any attention to ppl dislocated from their homes. She still on vacation and lanigan is a complete and total shitbag!!!
The last time that I saw a Bald Eagle in NY was by the bridge on Valley Road in Oriskany. When I was younger and used to fish on the Mohawk River, I didn't recall seeing any homeless camps.
International airport? Lol. I grew up in Rome and trying to find a flight from Los Angeles to Rome and there is nothing. RME is the airport code yet you cant fly in or out. Lol. Man would that ever help the businesses there if they really did have flights. The in and outbound traffic would bring back Rome again like it was before removing all the troops and closing the base. I remember every other min you would hear fighter jets taking off and flying overhead back in the 70's and 80's. Lol.
Not since the airport lost it's very expensive U.S. Customs office. The closest you'll get is Syracuse. Only flight activity, for years, has been a few Air Force reserve aircraft, private aircraft, and some drones. And the medical transport helicopter, is the most active aircraft. I've even suggested years ago, that Griffiss be a center for helicopter flights, for NY state. Too much red-tape and finding investors. Now the runway is maintained thanks to federal funding, to be used in case of a emergency landing or scenario where all flights must land immediately. Yip. Sadly. The so-called "Oneida County Airport," operated by Million-Air(a shady business), has extremely little activity. Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente, be prudent to hand them their eviction.
@@CopperCityPatriot Sad and a waste of land. They could create jobs and businesses but it's like they want it to fail. Not here, LA is getting bigger everyday. lol
Gov, Hawk tauh is to busy sucking up to all the illegals Biden and Harris let into our country, she doesnt give a shit about upstate NY she wants to hob nob with the rich elites in NYC!!!😡
I think that they should build an Ames Department Store there because we need an Ames Department Store in Rome New York and Ames Department Stores are returning in 2026 again.
Griffis AFB, Revere, Orion Bus, GE, Chicago Pneumatic, Remington Arms... Just to name a few. I'm sure there is more that can be added to the list. Central NY has lost so much in the past 20 years. Maybe someday things will turn around for Upstate NY.
It's getting hotter down south every year. I guess I'm not *hoping* that the climate displaces those living in the sunbelt... but hey... we have alot of water up here lol
So very sad, Rome has enough challenges as it is. I grew up in Rome, many good memories. I hope someone rescues the glass or anything of historical value.
It's been a few years since I've been to Rome, NY. I grew up in the Utica/Rome and lived in Rome about 15 years ago. It doesn't look like it's improved any. I'm enjoying my morning cup of coffee in Waukesha, WI, and watching your video. Just like NY, I see these adjenda 2021 boxes popping up all over. Rent has gotten ridiculous. A lot of the stimulus money went to slush funds for politicians.
The improvements have been discussed for three decades with zero progress. Though, it seems another low-income apartment complex is to be built along the Barge Canal. Cities love low-income, as the more they build for low-income, the more federal dollars yearly, are received. Just happy with the Mohawk River and Griffiss trail network(federal dollars). But it is hard to retain high income earners to live in the city. As for Stimulus, much was wasted by The People, purchasing pets and cars, and items they just could not actually afford. Stimulus money ran-out, and they can't afford the pet, cars repossessed, or are in debt for what they purchased. Me? I'm looking forward to a round of stimulus, with the near-future M-Pox virus.
Really enjoy your videos. As former Roman I can relate to many of the areas that you show. I especially like your commentary and would take that anytime over background music. I like hearing your perspective on what you are seeing. I was recently in town and the tornado damage is really something you need to see in person to fully appreciate. Keep up the good work. All the best.
My Grandparents lived in and had a Monument business @1418 E. Dominick St. It's a car lot now. I probably rode my bike a million miles in Rome. I remember the neon Revere sign.
Rome is my husband's hometown, and I lived there for 10 years. We still visit occasionally. We moved away in 2002. When we visited again in 2006, we were quite pleased with how the city had been cleaned up. It looked like a totally different city. Instead of looking old and tired, it looked young and vibrant. Keep improving, Rome!
Enjoy the seafood counter. And I eat a couple pounds of fish a week. What I DO NOT enjoy at Market 32, is their absurd Advantage savings card. All groceries require this type of card, for the purpose of TRACKING YOUR shopping habits. I don't want to-be-tracked. I need some privacy. Sometimes the cashiers will scan, a store-card for you, most times...they don't. And when they do not, I just leave the cart, and walk-out. Their loss. Besides, all those security cameras, give marketing a full view of what shoppers are buying and the aisle shelves with the most activity. So...why the necessity to apply for a grocery savings card??
Was more eager to post immediately than do my...homework on the video. Posted the object to Google images, and found several similar items used for...outdoor lighting. Also discovered Amazon, sells many (knock-off) versions, made in China. These lights are manufactured in USA, as this one was. I imagine the top, is a day/night sensor. I was being too dramatic like 6:30 evening news. Thank You, for the knowledge fact.
Is anyone, anyone at all, angered that the City of Rome, New York, is creating another useless road/trail connecting the River Trail, to the YMCA? Worse enough it already has deviants that "Hide," in the woods at night. It's within a crumby neighborhood. Gonna need lights, and a regular police patrol. Maybe the police will buy a ten grand e-bike for the first Summer, then let it collect dust afterwards.
You sound quite old. I would have to believe taking away social security and all the years you contributed to it would wake you up to your Republican Party. Some will never learn.. SMH 🤔
What? Old? Nope. Take away SS? Well, if you're a prudent citizen, you'll have a pension and IRA, and not be concerned about SS. If you're on welfare/foodstamps, you're concerned about nothing. If ya vote based souly on the color of skin and ethnicity, ya really have problems.
I love it. Very truthful word. Describes her and her administration, and the woke politics she spews, with graphic accuracy. We too, were not happy with the diminutive amount. She'll be back in Rome, NY to take all the credit for rebuilding. Why can't a tornado hit her office?
Hey it's not Paul Revere. And FYI it's gone now the tornado took it down . Don't know who you are but stop bad mouthing Rome, if you don't like here move!
Good that it didn't get worse damaged than that. At 3:15 engines are numbered from left to right but you're looking from the front so that's engines no. 7 and 8.
