21:30 bro rawdoggin gorgonio 💀💀 Thanks for your videos! Friends and I have only ever day-hiked, we wanna backpack Dry Lake in October (hope the lake is still wet by then), and you make it clear how much of a gem the San G Area is for SoCal! (Alan and indomie are also gems)
Nice quick getaway! I love that flash air tent more and more. Perfect for a quick setup and doesn't take up a lot of real estate. Dinner with a view and great company Tagay!
That non-freestanding tent is my most-used shelter ever. I pushed it to the limit and even use it in winter time. Incredible view all sides, and got lucky with the weather too. 👍
I ran into you guys that day on the Ski Hut trail on my way down from the summit. It was so cool bumping into both of you. I have yet to try overnight at Baldy. I always enjoy your videos 🤗 Happy Trails!!
Thanks, Marcela! Yeah I remember you and your companion. To me it’s so wonderful to meet someone on trail like you who watch my videos. Hopefully we will cross path again somewhere, soon! 👍
yes indeed, the view is awesome as always ! 20 lbs for an overnighter, eh?..... wtf?!!.... that's not even close to my dayhike.... lol wild onions grow at that elevation??..... wow....
Hey, Alex.. last time I did a summer camp there I had 22 lbs. Now I have better gear and lighter too. The wild onions I collect ended up in a pot, I planted them hoping they would survive the lower elevation.
Less is definitely more often enough. But people like when you cook a 5 star meal in the wilderness. Stay strong !.Stay blessed.! Stay American my friend ! Lord bless you and yours ! Tagay!!
beautiful time on the Mountain!! looks a lot more fun in summer i think/ nice to see it without the snow everywhere!! awesome hike, super cool shots of the Backbone on your way down! thanks for taking us along
Thanks, Andrew! Summertime makes it easier for an overnight, ultralight. But damn, it’s too hot! I still prefer winter but we had incredible views this time.
Thanks! The smoke looked like a continuing fire but not sure. We reported it at the Top Of The Notch Restaurant. Hopefully it will not cause another full blown fire..🤞
That was my idea why I created all these contents, that one day we can go back and see how it was back when we were still walking without cane and such.
Have any of you ever wanted to hike the Pacific Crest Trail? Not me for sure because I was never a strong hiker, I always got blisters over blisters and my hip bones stick out too much and the pack’s hip belt always rode on them. My feet have always been very bony as well, with protruding areas, rearward and on the sides. I’m not just making excuses, I really had lots of issues and now that I’m 65 they are causing me a great deal of pain. I cannot walk barefoot even inside my own house. I should delete all of this crap, but no one is going to care anyways! 😵😴
I understand, even myself having trouble every now and then while out and about. I used trail runner shoes which are lighter but with limited protection from rocky ground surface. I would love to do the whole stretch of the PCT, I don’t have time in my hand right now. It’s been a dream.
You were talking about San Gorgonio as well and I remember starting at Poopout Hill and hiking up from the right side and down and back from the other saddle. Back when I did these hikes the smog was so bad that we never had any views except across to San Jacinto. One trip did backpack and we stayed down the canyon that drops down into Whitewater Canyon, I suppose. It rained the whole we were camping. The weather forecast was printed in the newspaper. It never rained in August and I never heard of the Monsoon rains.
That was a long hike, but with amazing views. San Gorgonio is dangerous mountain, she has her own crazy weather. Maybe by Labor Day I’ll spend one night up in the summit.
The last day hike that I did up Mt Baldy was when we got help by taking the chairlift up to the top of the ski area and we walked down the switchbacks under the chairlifts.
Great video! I did this exact route as a teenager in the 80s. Was nice to relive it with your crew! When we went through the Soda Creek canyon, it was quite odd. Many of the trees were broken halfway up the trunk, it must have been caused by a crazy avalanche. Great area for a trip! Cheers for sharing!
Thanks, Andrew! Crossing waters a great relief during hot summer hike. And this area of San Gabriel holds lots of great history during the great hiking era of the 20th century.
This was such a fun trip, even with the heat! Great friends, beautiful camp, swimming, and so much food! Thanks for treating us to all the yummy food you hiked in!
I always had great times getting out there with all of you, such a fun trip every time. Jocy is really looking at going with me next time I hit that area.. maybe this month.
Next thing you'll see is people all up and down trail sporting hats like that . That heat must have been a bear to deal with although it's nothing that full submersion in ice water can't solve. It was great to catch up with you last week. Stay cool my friend.
