1106 listen to her! talking about how awful it is to be a stay at home parent, she woudl never "resign myself" to that . Well BOO YOU heather hardy, for denigrating stay at home mothers' experiences, that you can do "better?" Lots stay at home moms, and give great support to their husbands who go out and get the money, and come back tired, and find a meal waiting and partner, Stay at home mom lives a relatively simple life, giving a child a stable nurturing. it's worked that way for thousands of years. But the egotistical Heather thought those experiences are inferior to her chasing a dream of public adoration and violent sports glory. Well Heather, your brain damage means that your life choice was awful, despite knowing full well that females did not get paid as much as men and that promoters were devious. And now your daughter, who is in her early 20s, will now have a very limited life because her mom can't work, can't retrain, is won't be attractive to men who know her dreadful condition. Heather , what do you think of the moms at the school bus stop , after all this? do you pity them now??
0:53 prophetic words which tragically came to be: "My fear is that...all of this is going to be for nothing." It indeed was for nothing.....in 2024 Heather Hardy retired in pain and destitution after suffering too much brain damage because of her (admittedly) low skill and big heart, a dangerous combination. She convinced herself that her inferior skill set (2:33 "I'm uncoordinated, i'm dumb") she says ) was offset by her "heart". But thing is, she began fighting girls who had big skills *and *heart too. A lot of less talented people convince themself of that, that their heart will offset deficits in skill, not just for themselves, but will hold true against those they compete against. As if the talented naturals she fought (Amanda Serrano, for instance) would have less heart than Hardy. In tennis its one thing, but in combat sports, Heather Hardy will be the prime cautionary tale for NOT getting into boxing. Hopefully , she inspires NO MORE young people to get into boxing, and inspires some female boxers to GET OUT of boxing. I read that she was dazzled by the psychological high of one of her early fights where the crowd was chanting her name after a victory. Heather Hardy's rest of her life will have value, usefulness, integrity if she warned people of the dangers of boxing. Instead, as i write this, she is doubling down on justifying her experience, and speaking out against unfair pay disparities in the sport. She says, "Boxing saves more lives than it takes", but that is self-deception. And dangerous advice, because what if young women want to follow in her footsteps? Keep an eye on Heather Hardy in the next few years - her brain damage which already prevents her from riding a bike, remembering things, sleeping...it's only going to get worse and we'll be privy to it. it will be grim, disturbing to watch, more so than it is already
Every now and then when I lose motivation I watch this documentary and have a good cry and get super pumped. Heather Hardy is a true inspiration for real.

Adorable! I love the French and the sped up action in the beginning and of course the Ekko drinking water - my favorite sound are dogs lapping up water! Ekko is so freaking cute!!!!
