I tried this month for the first time with both, mini studio and studio camera g2 in a flamenco show festival. In the last 10 days, I had good impressions but as you said in the video, these lenses are not enough for all scenes. I worked with a few sdi cables with 50 meters lenght, and a central control in the top of theatre. At those distances, Panasonic 45-175 lens have not enough quality and poor low 3.5 light from the start of zoom. It's real that Black magic did a good job with Iso and may be that lenses are not showing the real quality of the camera because the other pancake lenses, located near scene, looks very different than this. Also, colors of 45-175 looks more intense because of these light difference. One of the days, I connected a manual Olympus lens and it was to another level. But It's not compatible with zoom and focus demand and have not stabilizer. The best thing can happen it's a new line of quality lens from Olympus and Panasonic and of course, welcome any adaptation box for usb-c conecting B4 lens or any system.
Nice video Anthony! I'm looking into doing a remote setup with these. Do you know off hand which four lenses are zoom compatible? I'm getting wild stuff from my searches
It is less about which four are compatible but more about, like he said, which are available, and they are, as far as I know, the following. Panasonic calls it power zoom, and the model numbers start with H-PS... and have a PZ marking on the lens: Panasonic H-PS14042E LUMIX G X VARIO PZ 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 (using this with a BMPCC4K) Panasonic H-PS45175E LUMIX G X VARIO PZ 45-175mm F4.0-5.6 Olympus uses EZ in the name: Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital ED 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 EZ (he uses this one in the video) Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital ED 12-50mm f3.5-6.3 EZ (this is the one mounted to the studio camera)
I love it that you invite people talking about events and streams and etc… but none of them can hold a microphone in their hands properly… the guy on the right used it almost like a jedi sword jesus…. Why not dropping the execs and bringing in the ppl on the front line? You know… the ones who actually know what they are talking about…
Anthony - How does the Magewell Director Mini compare to the Yolobox Ulra? I have watched all of your videos and do not see amuch content about Yolobox Ultra features that are advertised as worked but in fact do not work. I read the Yolobox Forums and see many people with issues like I have had with Yolobox Ultra with still no resolution. Part of the reason I started a wholesale account to resell Yolobox Ultra is based on your glowing reviews. Now I and many others expect the truth and you can just write it below my comment. What are all of the falsely advertised Yolobox Ultra Features that are buggy and do not work? What features were advertised that did not work that were fixed in later updates? What features are advertised for the Magewell Director Mini that do not work as advertised? Between Magwell and Yolobox what company is more truthful and honest about their advertised features? I have pitched and sold the Yolobox Ultra to very important clients. Now I have to return the Yolobox Ultra's and find an alternative product for my customers. What do you recommend? Does the Magewell Director Mini function as advertised and is it solid enough to sell to customers who will depend on the unit weekly for their personal brand and business reputation? Please advise? Regards, Tim
I had ordered one that wasn't even delivered yet and while at the show in Vegas they were going to sell me a used one on the spot for 50 percent off. I was truthful and told me I had one on order that I would just return (unopened), then they were like, oh we cant sell you this one for a discount because you ordered one and will return it. WTH. So yea, customer service is TERRIBLE. Who does business like that??? I ended up returning the new one I ordered as well! No thanks!!!
LOL - if you're really worried about patents just keep using the original 22 year-old h264 (it's good enough for 99% of usages, and is far too old to be patented). If Google say AV1 is royalty free... they've got the lawyers to verify that, so you can certainly believe them. Why is there no Sisivel lawsuit against Google? It's because they've got nothing, as the cowboys say. HEVC was dead before this lawsuit... Netflix will just switch it off and no-one will notice if video is AV1 or h264. It should be a warning to anyone thinking of using HEVC or VVC (as if 35 years of dealing with h26x video patents wasn't enough).
