Thanks the ladder was from eBay www.ebay.co.uk/itm/364683840354?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Lk6PVm6CTW2&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=D2CAmnWwR3m&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Our wee staffie cross, Max, also developed a limp after being on a pebble beach in Norfolk. He was fine after a couple of weeks though. Hope Albie is better now.
Hi we used multistrand single cables for our wiring. Most was done in 1.5mm as it is under 16a a few applications were larger like the fridge and heater just to be safe.
Hi Guys Love the channel and we are learning a lot whilst converting our van. Would you honestly say the brackets from Etsy work well and are worth the money. It's a minefield out there and it gets a bit overfacing. Kind regards Jonny
Hi Johnny we think they are worth the money we have had them on for around 18months and 12000 miles now and they are still as good as the day we put them on. It can be done with Unistrut or similar but we couldn’t justify the time.
HI, It's great to see someone has figured out to provide a low-cost solution to something that could prove to be very expensive it you bought the after-market supplier products. One question though; where did you get the right angle brackets that attach the solar panel itself to the unistrut?
Perfect... been toying with the idea of a van conversion for a few years now, following lots of the 'famous' van lifers on here, etc... finally decided a Boxer is what I want to convert so looking forward to your series of vlogs.
How have the mounting brackets held up since you constructed it about a year ago? We're thinking of a similar design for our roof rack - surfboards and solar panels built around 2x air vents. Thanks for the video - very helpful!
Hi, great build, how did you attach the wood batten to the van beam for the ikea skirva beams please? I'm in process of installing my bed myself and would like to do it the same way.
@our.van.adventures thanks for the info! Just finished making homemade brackets for our relay, so we can proceed with the frame now! Thanks for your help
Just found your channel. Amazing job! Been trying to workout my solar panel fitment for ages. This is amazing and the way you show and explain is great. Can I ask where you got all the corner fitments for joining the unistut at the corners and the ones for across? Will be watching your other videos tomorrow. 😊
@Our.van.adventures Sorry for late reply. Honestly you have solved me a v sore head with this info and video. I have been going back and forward trying to decide what to do with the roof rack and your video has made the decision for me. My van is the H3 version so not a lot on the market when it comes to low profile roof rack and your version hits the right buttons for me. I'm off to order the parts and thanks again. 😊
Im assuming you have the heavy rated chassis on your van, which is why you have 16 inch steel rims. If the steel rims are the 130 PCD they have some resale value because people want one for a spare tyre. I've got an ex ambulance L4H3 because I'm tall. That comes with the larger 130 PCD alloys and no spare wheel. Luckily I managed to get a heavily scratched alloy wheel for the spare but they are rare as hens teeth in 130 PCD. It still wasn't cheap. The standard are 118 PCD. If they are the 130 PCD, list your old steel wheels on ebay for about £60 each (pick up only) and leave the old tyres on. If your rear tyres have more tread add an extra £10 on each of those.
Thanks, yes ours is a L4 “heavy” we did see the 16 inch wheels are more rare. We will hold onto them for the time being as a spare set as you never know 👍
Love the wheels guys , exactly the ones I'm getting on my boxer . 16 inch from 15inch as I have the L3 H2. What was the exact tyre specs guys? They make the van look rugged and aggressive. Thinking of doing my bonnet matt black plastidip and plastidip the side trims as well as it can peel off if you change your mind. Maybe a n dimetic door led rain gutter in black
Don't put yourselves down; I'd be like a deer in headlights trying to film a vlog! One thing though: get a microphone with some sort of wind protection. I used to make films with drama groups and viewers are very forgiving of video quality issues, but dodgy sound can be very off-putting.
Hi Guys. Just come across your channel and watched this video. We haven't done St Ives yet but that campsite looks really good. We will be following you guys and we've subscribed. Pop over and check us out if you want. A&B.x
Hi both, so happy i came across this video as im currently wanting to create my own for My Boxer conversion starting this year. Do you mind if i ask what depth, width etc rails you used? And if possible where you thought was best to pick them up from? Many thanks
