Welcome to our channel. We are Jane and Mike, British early retirees living in France. We live a thrifty debt and mortgage free life and love every minute of it. On our channel we share: money saving, thrifty living, home cooking, budgeting, simple living and everyday frugality. We put out three videos every week at 5pm Paris time. Wednesday is our mid week money chat which has a financial focus. Friday is all about food and saving money in the kitchen from meal planning to cooking an affordable homemade meal. Sunday shows a personal side of our life and can be anything from a budgeting video to a free day out somewhere in our part of France.

Being a frugal friend myself, I learned that people are almost happy to have a person they don't have to compete with. The key is that you are genuinely happy for them.
Catching-up on some of your older videos. Enjoying them as usual. I too loved the scenary of the village you live in. Very nice lake. All the best. Izzy, a Canadian of Portuguese Ancestry living in Portugal. God Bless both of you.
I'm on a disability income of $1100 n since going frugal n having a "no spend yr" last yr was able to save almost $4000. Last month my 18 yr old car needed to be fixed n cost $2200 n the next day I needed a plumber that cost $492 then 3 days later my cat had an emergency which cost $840. It took me over a yr to save almost $4000 in just 5 days I spent almost all that I have saved. I'm so glad I'm NOT in debt for that, but it is so demoralizing knowing that now I'm starting all over again.
That looks incredible! There really isn't anything you can't do with veggies. I can't wait to try with the egg, cheese mixture. Thank you. Have a wonderful weekend 😊.
That looks absolutely delicious and I’ll be making this for lunch today as I surprisingly have all of those ingredients on hand - including the soft tomato’s that need to be used up. Your garden looks great. It’s so satisfying to be able to feed yourself with food that you have grown yourself.
I've been doing tons of basil-rich tomato and mozzarella or corn salads, a pot or two of beans and veggie pan roasts for the last few weeks with things like mushrooms, broccoli, peppers, onions, spinach, garlic, beets, the last of the spring asparagus and fresh herbs, pretty much anything on sale or that looks good at the Farmer's Market or Trader Joe's and that, with some pasta, cheese and the occasional egg for me or steak for my husband or a shared seafood, yogurt or cottage cheese and fruit is pretty much it.
Oh, I also wanted to suggest Orechette with sausage and broccoli rabe for you and John since you guys get that nice sausage on sale. It's really cheap, easy and delicious! Love from NYC!
I am so envious of the beautiful lettuce you picked from your garden! It is winter here in Australia so I have quite a while to wait before I can hope to grow any in my little veggie patch. I love the doggy photos at the end of each video. I had a laugh at the new one with the pink paper 😅
Beatiful magic Garden in paradise ✨ ♥. Lovely frugal fresh summer meal yummy 😋 .wow great bargain diet 👌 meal 😋 my best feugal chef in France 🇫🇷 lov 4he puppies 🐶 😋 take care sweet friends jane and mike❤❤❤❤
I cleaned up 6 bags of clearance vegetables and used scraps and made 6 quarts of vegetable stock. Then I trimmed and sliced 37 pounds of carrots for preserving and I bagged up the ends, and the limp ones and froze them. I found a great recipe for a creamy carrot soup, using vegetable stock. With onions, garlic, salt, pepper,a sprinkle of cayenne and ginger it simmered. Then served with coconut milk and a splash of lime juice. What would have been scraps to most gave us 6 quarts of delicious vitamin rich soup. I have a few vegetables in my kitchen waiting for another recipe, and Jane this is exactly what I needed. Thank you. I don't have feta, but I do have some shredded colby jack cheese that will work great.😊
I believe in having sinking funds for "emergencies" like car repairs (which have repeatedly saved my butt) and I have a separate emergency fund. Since we have universal healthcare, I consider a real emergency to be job loss.
Goes to show that a frugal meal can be nourishing and attractive. The garden looks wonderful...I see that one of the pups has tried their hand at interior decorating. You gotta love 'em.
That looks so yummy! I don't usually cook with feta, but I am going to give it a try! All those colors make such a nice presentation! Thank you for sharing this recipe Jane.
Good recipe for a veggie bake, with a fresh salad 🥗 All of my excess root veggies go into the slow cooker for a soup 🍜 Thank you Jane and Mike for another great video 👍🇦🇺
For some reason I’ve never thought of adding feta to eggs. Love this idea! I could make it early in the day before the afternoon heat hits and then reheat in the microwave. Thanks, Jane and Mike!
Our emergency fund went pop because of a non paying client - we were defrauded. I'm glad it was there, but it wasn't enough and it's proving very hard to pull back to a place where we will have one again. Build it and hang onto it! Especially if you're self employed.
