Sulloon is actually "Ceylon". Its about the Kandyan Conflict of 1817. 400+ Irish troops came in Ceylon to stop the Rebellion, most of them would die from the Kandyans or Disease.
Great song. There’s one song I’m looking for but can’t find anywhere - it’s about the ‘81 Hunger Strike. The lyrics go something like ‘here’s for the freedom you fasted and died, harsh for the five rights you were denied’, I believe the song is called ‘Freedom’. Beir bua 👍

It's interesting how lyrics change a bit depending on who's version you have. In the Dominic Behan version, it's " and what was their wrath when the Englishmen saw". Either way, the operative word here being "wrath" I believe.
