In my humble opinion as a DJ for over 20 years, these two guys cannot be compared. The Mackie has a low to upper mid boast that may sound good on low volume, but that does not sound the same on high volume. If you don't need to play on loud volume The Mackie is great but it's not a QSC. I do have and gig with both. I would only use the Mackie in an event where speeches are most of the event. If it's a music-based event, QSC all the way since 2015.

So I have Dual JBL 18” subs. Do I set them side by side or on top of each other? I currently separate them with the tops…

Either way will produce essentially the same good result. Simply depends on your space/area.

I have 2 pair of the 15" subs by RCF and 2pair of the RCF 18" subs. Is your recommendation to pair the 18's together on one side and the 15" on the other?
@AndrewYates
@AndrewYates Месяц назад
If you must use all four at once, (for peak performance I would not recommend using 15 & 18's at the same time) I would think getting them all as close together would still be best.

I have the line 6 wireless system microphones and since I bought them I have had many issues especially with dropouts! It is so embarrassing when people are using them in an event and dropouts happen. I have heard good reviews about audix wireless microphones and watching your video, btw is the best review on RU-vid about this wireless microphone, I'm convinced that the audix wireless microphone is my next to purchase audio gear! Thanks for this awesome review

@AndrewYates
@AndrewYates 3 месяца назад
Indeed it is. It goes about 40 weddings per year, STILL doing great. Actually have it dialed in so well, it's doing better than ever. Use the L5 mic for the officiant, and L5O (omni) mic for the groom. Such an underrated system, just outstanding.

I would like to know as well.. I have JBL EON 15s and im wondering if getting these K12s would make a significant difference or if it would be a downgrade since K12s are 12inch and the JBLs are 15inch.
@AndrewYates
@AndrewYates 3 месяца назад
I am STILL using these, they've been rock solid. I'm doing about 40 events per year, mostly outdoor weddings. I've got the EQ dialed in, and using RCF 705-ASII subs with them, just great. Week in, week out, just solid performers. Have the K12.2 pair, and K8.2 pair. Typically use them in 'default', using a slight mid/high eq push, and sometimes 'dance'.
@AndrewYates
@AndrewYates 3 месяца назад
K12.2 is typically considered to be a bit better than any EON series. Used the older EONs years ago. The K's are better, how much better is pretty subjective, but I believe it would be noticeable, even vs a 15" EON.

Where would you place one sub and two tops for a singer with backing music
@AndrewYates
@AndrewYates 3 месяца назад
When using 1 sub, if the vocalist is going to be standing somewhat near the middle of a stage/lounge/bar setup it, I would put it off to either side, but not in the middle (too close to the singer).

@AndrewYates

I would stick to the same size of subs as much as possible. You're not breaking any laws, but it's best with subs to keep everything as similar as possible for the best and most dynamic, least noise cancelling effect.

7:52 wow? I acually increase thet gain up to 8 and that is where i satar seen some limit coming out. I belive people dont know how to mix their music or live sound well that is why they r having issues. You have to send a nice cool singnal from the instruments and from the mixer trough the rest to the speakers in order for ur amp not to overworked so much.

Can I couple 2 different brands of subwoofers? Like QSC KW181 and EV ETX 18sp, would they cancel out some frequencies? Some people says it's a bad idea to couple different brands but is there any proof about that or does someone already tried that? Thank you very much!
@AndrewYates
@AndrewYates 3 месяца назад
It's always BEST to use identical subs. If you must mix brands, at least use the same size woofers 18" and 18" etc, and close sized boxes as much as possible. Won't be perfect, but won't be completely wack.

@rahachi

I’ve always heard the problem with the QSC’s is that a lot of the midrange frequencies are not as present with their speakers. So your mixes are two instead of Three dimensional sounding, like you would hear with Mackie or Alto speakers
@AndrewYates
@AndrewYates 3 месяца назад
Like many speakers, the K12.2 just needs a bit of EQ'ing to get the best result. The K's have been rock solid for years now in my rig, and though they're not 'perfect', they push pretty darn well and are not as harsh (in my opinion) at high volume as the legacy K's I had before.

Place both subs together against a corner of a room. Have the subs face the wall. Yes, have them face the wall. Watch the entire room shake.
@robertyoung1777

I think there are problems with the eq curve used and stylus shape in your attempt to play the record. The RIAA equalization curve was standardized in 1954. Anything recorded before that could have used another curve. The eq curve used would have a big impact on the sound of the recording when played back. Playback equipment needs to use the eq curve used by the recording device. A mono cartridge fitted with a conical stylus of the size used to cut the disc is needed to get good sound. I think a better way to hear the recording would be to play it back on analogue equipment of the same time period of the recording.

Frustrating for sure. There was a firmware update that addressed this known issue, which was indeed most prominent in the K10.2's. I have never had these 12's or my 8.2's shut down, ever, with bout 300+ events or so on them

thank you so much for helping me make up my mind. and thank you, too, for not being obnoxious like other DJ channels who get over the moon with everything just because it powers on and makes noise, lol. i've been torn between these and lots of other subs, like the ks118, kw181's, 708's, the new mk3's, EV's, etc... and i think it will be most worth my time and money to get a pair of these and be satisfied for a longer-term. plus i'm happy to continue to stay within the rcf brand as i'm breaking in my 932-a's

On my both QSC K2 K10.2's i have the EQ Hz levels all the way down to the 100Hz Low, 50Hz and 200Hz, 1,000Hz and the EQ and Low and High on the lowest Hertz and dB all the way dow nwith the EQ on the IN point. Low 0dB, both EQ's on -6dB and the High's on 0dB. because both EQ point's in the pre'amp, puts out intense mids so i rather minimize that by doing both EQ point's on the -6dB (lowest it can go) and the hertz all the way down to the lowest which is, High's is 0dB of 1,000,both middle EQ's on -6dB of 50 and 200, and 0dB on the Lows. EQ setting's. I feel comfortable with Live setting and also the Studio Monitor setting with my manual EQ input i selected in the built in manual/auto EQ. I think it just sound's much cleaner/clearer like that. i've had my 2 QSC K2 K10.2's for like2 or 3 year's now aswell. I'm thinking of upgrading to the Mackie Thump's to the 15's instead of 12's but 12's are also good sizes but i chose the QSC K2 k10's instead. I have had Rockville 15 800's before and those sounded really good tbh. I wanted to like try another pair/set of speaker's that is alittle smaller and higher wattage and SPL to hear and see the difference. I do enjoy these QSC K2 k10.2's but i've been thinking of soon upgrading to the Mackie thump 15 series... The downside / sad thing is that it doesn't have the App compatiblity and no bluetooth ability. So i wanna try out the mackie thump series that does include the app compatibility and bluetooth ability.

Can i mix 2 diffrent sizes of subs? Like coupling 2 sets of 18in on the far left side of the stage and the same way couple the 2 sets of 12in sub on the far right side of the stage. Is it ok? Is it allowable? Thanks...
