One thing to note, the factory valve is designed to close when the differential starts to suck in air (due to cooling) but close if water pressure presses against the cap. That valve you are using has no way to close if the diff suddenly cools and pressure suddenly reduces and suck in air. When the diff heats up the pressure inside increases, thus the reason for the breather valve, without the valve pressure will press against the axle seals and possibly destroy them. However if you have a hot diff and you drive through deep water or snow back, it will suddenly decrease in pressure sucking air into the valve. The valve will allow air to enter equalizing the pressure inside the diff, and again, like noted, if there is also water pressure it will press against the cap and close the valve. The little time of low pressure inside the diff will not cause a problem, but water does not mix with oil so water entering will be a problem. That valve has some type of plastic (cotton looking) material that allows the valve to breath with diff pressure or diff suction. But it will NOT prevent water from being sucked into the diff. Good thing is you are showing an easy install of where to place the valve about a foot (might be higher) above the original location that will help in most situations since most people will not be submerging the truck in water deep enough to hit the bottom of the truck bed. And that new valve will help keep out dust, and other foreign matter. However, so will the original. I mounted my factory breather valve higher and did not need to purchase a special kit. Just a hose, and adapter to screw into diff/axle. But I have no intention of off-roading this Frontier like I did my Hummers.
Hey man. Just got a 23 Pro X. I went down the rabbit hole of all things Frontier, and this (and the catch can) seems to be the most recommended mod. I don't plan on doing any crazy offroading. I'm not going to launch a boat, and I don't live near the coastline. Is this mod completely necessary? Is partially submerging the truck the only way to cause the rear diff vent to fail?
I installed this on my 22 Frontier. For peace of mind. I’ve read that some people don’t even take theirs off-road and they’ve had to replace their diffs on the 2nd gens. I’d rather not take any chances.
Kill switch is a fairly complicated system. It’s probably DESS which is essentially the skis key. It uses Ohm resistance recognized by the MPEM to grant power. To check it if you put the key onto the post, if the gauges light up, it works.
@@hardballhobbies so i have no key I just have the red button and when I push it I hear the bulge pump kick on but nothing happens and my gauges dont work. Where can I get the dess system?
Should be a “post” with a metal ring around it. Visible in my video. The key is a sleeve that goes around it. Nothing will happen till you have the key on it.
So quick question when starting one up I hear my Bildge pump run but no crank or anything. Do you know the whole operation of what the jet ski is supposed to do on start up?
@@hardballhobbies 1999 seadoo gsx limited. I can give you my number if you have time to call and explain more to me. I'm a diesel mechanic but don't know much about jet skis
hello can you help me I'm new to this I have a gsx limited 99 with 951 carburettor and I have a problem out of the water it accelerates very well but in the water it does not accelerate
www.alldogsoffroad.com/alldogs-offroad-rear-differential-breather-relocator-with-relocator-for-nissan-frontier-xterra The factory differential breather is placed directly on the axle. If water gets into the breather, it will mix with the oil and you can have premature wear if it is not flushed out. This kit relocates it higher up so it is not easily submerged. Only really necessary if you are doing serious off-roading of plan on launching boats with your truck
Lol nah its still mine, he wanted to try to vlog lmao. But we put it together but after I went to go try to get it timed the shop said that the timing chain is way to stretched for safe running, and in my effort to replace it I pretty much messed like 3 other things up
