Yes, the quality does improve through processing. What you see in the preview is a rough draft. That being said, if you're hand-holding your phone, it's very challenging to remain steady enough and pivot accurately enough for the best possible outcome. If you are using Axis, the quality will be even better.

Unfortunately, this will likely be a while, but can't say exactly what that means. The X4, unlike the X3, doesn't use the same pano processing standard and, therefore, would require a much heavier lift on Matterport to make it compatible. It's something we're working on, but will take time. For now, however, you can use the 360 Import feature to import and align a 360 pano from any source, including the X4. It's not as convenient, I know. But, it will do the trick until full compatibility is available.

Hi. I'm sorry to hear you're running into so many issues and I know how frustrating that is. I can't say for sure this is the problem without know more about the environment, but I can say bathrooms can be especially challenging due to all the reflections. Try marking all the mirrors and even the shower glass as either a window or mirror in the app as you're working your way through the space. By marking all the reflective surfaces you're telling the app to ignore that area of the pano and use only the other areas to find alignment. Once the entire house is complete, remove any unnecessary markings before uploading so they don't process along with the model data.

Hi. Unfortunately, there's no way to remove the blur from that area, though it is slightly reduced when using 360 cameras like Ricoh as opposed to something like the Pro2. There are platform partners, (I believe MPembed and MPskin can do this), that allow you to place a logo/sticker over that area so you don't have a blurry spot.

There are a few ways you could tackle this issue. One option is to connect multiple 3D spaces using deep links embedded in a tag. You could also embed the entire amenities model in a tag placed in the other model. Lastly, if the amenities can be a few 360 panos instead of a 3D model, you could also capture those 360's into the same model data and pin them outside the dollhouse using the 360 View feature.

Hi. I'm not sure what you mean so I'll try to answer your question this way. Matterport is a software company that processes and hosts digital twins captured using our mobile app. Once you have the captured data on your tablet or phone, you upload it to your Matterport account. A subscription is required, and we do have a free plan to get started for anyone capturing with their phone. With the data in your account, it all gets processed into a digital twin that you can access, share, and embed on any website just like a RU-vid video.

Hi. Check the options to see if it's set to Simple or Complete. A Complete scan will require 2 rotations and you'll have to manually tilt the phone between each rotation. If that doesn't fix it, please reach out to support@matterport.com and they'll be able to better diagnose the problem.

Hi. Using the realign feature is not an override or guarantee the second time aligning will be different from the first. However, if you do run into issues with Realign not working, try the trick I mentioned at the end. Select the misaligned scan position along with the position it should be aligned to and move them both to a new floor. Try realigning again. This will help by reducing the other possible alignment points from the process. Once realigned, move the positions back to their original floor to confirm realignment was successful.

Hi, the realign option is missing on my android app. When selecting scans my only options are to Delete scans or move to a floor.

I completely understand the frustration with that. A lot is going on when processing model data and even if very little in the data changes, the final model will be a bit different regarding the 3D mesh data and where each facet is positioned. This means when you pin a Tag to a specific location on the mesh, in the new model's mesh that would be a slightly different location. This is also true for some 3rd party tools as well. That's not to say there isn't a solution for this problem, but in the case of a 3rd party, it would be up to them to provide it. There is work being done to allow Matterport asset migration between models, which has historically been a problem because of the mesh not being identical between models. I know none of this helps your issue. I just wanted to explain why we create an entirely new model every time the data is processed.

It depends on the space being captured. Each scan position takes about the same amount of time, assuming you're not scanning with LiDAR when using Axis. Also assuming you're not using the "Complete Scan" mode, which requires 2 rotations and manually pivoting the phone between those rotations. So, Simple Scan and no LiDAR on Axis Vs the Pro2. The Pro2 is going to be a bit more forgiving when it comes to alignment and gives you the flexibility to move a bit more between scan positions. For that reason, I would say the Pro2 will likely scan the same area a bit faster than Axis.

You would definitely want to use the Pro3, which has no problems scanning outdoors. The accuracy of the Pro3 is rated at 20mm @ 10m. What I would recommend is before purchasing the camera to own, hire a capture services tech to come out and scan it with their Pro3. You can then download a number of assets such as XYZ point cloud, OBJ mesh file, or E57 to bring into a CAD tool and test for yourself the accuracy and whether it meets your requirements. Sure, it won't be quite as high as the Faro, but it's considerably more user-friendly and cost-effective.

Hi, you'll be able to download the MatterPak whether you scan in complete or simple modes. If you have an ultra-wide angle lens, I would stick to simple.

@@bim-specialist The accuracy of a Samsung s24 with Axis would be no different than any other 360 cam using Cortex to build the 3D model, which is within 4% - 8%. You can bring the OBJ file into Revit using the free Revit plugin and create your BIM assets there. The question of whether the accuracy is high enough really depends on your use case and what you need. As for the difference between Simple and Complete scanning - it's not the accuracy that will change, it's the vertical field of view. Meaning, how much of the ceiling do you need to capture at any scan position.

Hi. There are several locations where you can store your files. One option is to use a cloud service other than Google Drive, such as Dropbox or Box.com. Another option is to save the zip file locally to your mobile device's Files folder. Then connect the device to a computer and transfer the files that way. Once you have the zip file saved anywhere, either on or off your device, you can move it to a place that makes the most sense.

Hi, If you have a test model you've already processed, I would recommend reaching out to support@matterport.com so they can have a look and advise accordingly. Based on what you've described, however, I would recommend using the Pro3 since it will be able to see the area from end to end and align more easily. If that's not possible, be sure to scan every 5-6ft with the Pro2. If you're using a 360 camera, it probably won't work that well since it sounds like the area you're scanning is pretty big. Again, with more info about the environment you're scanning, the support team can provide more detailed information.
