Even though I´m pretty big fan of handringing - and occasional bellringer myself, I don´t consider type of "ringing" on the big bell as appropriate (1:30). I can understand when there is some extra movement needed in case of bigger bells (mostly at the begging and at the end) but in this case it was absolutely unnecessary and planely unreasonable. Bell is a sacred instrument in first place, so it would be nice to have respctful approach to it. Anyways, nice bells, thanks for the video. Regards
In this country no one has more respectful approach towards church bells than us! Usually in Finland no one in congregations cares nor respects the art of bell ringing. That swaying with the bell is not unnecessary, as it is also a good way to test the structural strength and integrity, excess noises etc. This is my home church, and this was the first time in six years that these bells were rung by swinging. Unfortunately nowadays only a a clapper system is used. We have restored the possibility to hand ring these bells, and from now on they will be rung as they are supposed to. For us, bells are one of the most important part of the lithurgical life.
@@jimijarvinenorgan to test the structural strength and excess noise by doing that? Cmon... A 10 year old knows that a bunch of crap as an explanation 😂. Doing that only makes the clapper hit the bell a little bit sooner on one side and it's preventing for the bell to have an even swinging angle. If you would want to do a stress test on the structure there are other ways of doing it and for sure not putting a 70kg "weight" on the side of a single bell while ringing it. Be real 😀 Not only it's absolutely pointless it also can get dangerous for the person doing that. Either way, the bells sound quite nice 👍
@@jimijarvinenorganя вообще знаю как выглядят православные колокола. В России всегда колокола делали с украшениями, с завитушками и со стилем древней Руси. И звук у колокоов был всегда бархатный и глубокий. Поэтому не надо мне тут ля-ля. Я звонарь 10 лет опыта, и я знаю отлично как звучат католические и православные. У католических он менее глубокий, и более такой звонкий и такой мелодичный, я бы сказал музыкальный. Поэтому мне лучше знать.
