That's not the "drain". If you remove the dispenser you will see a "hole" which is where the detergent (and softener if used) is washed down into the tub. That's why he pauses the wash cycle to add the water.
I always use soap powder but today for the first time ever I used Almat Bio Laundry Liquid which I bought from Aldi but it is not creating any soapy suds / Foam in my washing machine, I put in the recommended dosage, what have I done wrong.
