Thank you Jazz House Kids family for this jazz education legacy. Bassist, Chris White, would be so proud that you have continued the legacy he started with his program called J.O.Y. (Jazz Opportunities for Youth.
2:37:12 That’s actually my small combo. I’m the one on the piano. It was actually fun to play those three songs with my band, and I can say that we’ve improved so much on this Summer Workshop. If other parents are watching this, I recommend it. You wouldn’t regret it. - Michelle
What an amazing voice! The first three minutes of the selection I spent trying to identify how many great musically historic influences I was hearing. On the softer passages, I heard Ella and Sarah. When it came to power, I heard Mahalia and Etta. For a vocalist, this young, to possess these powers and to select the perfect vehicle (her song) is exceptional. The lyrics were personal but they were universal for all of us. The song had to be an original. Danielle Ponder is a gift to the world!!! Thank-you, Jazz House Kids and Walker/McBride. H. Jerome, Wanted to watch the live stream but had a previous commitment. Just finished watching the replay video. Enjoyed your historic commentary. Hope to see you sometime in the future.
SHE shouldn t have touched the Big O classic if she cant pull it appropriately. SHE is a jazz singer. SHE was a soul singer during the disco craze, and her 2nd Atl album is great, the best cut being the near-masterpiece GOIN THRU THE MOTIONS. BUT that was a long time ago, and this band is stiff and turpid. Sth s just not THERE ! SHE should stick to jazz, the whole garb is also over the top. Times they are-a-changin ...but not 4 the better. . .
