My name is Adrian and I love the challenge of designing and making simple yet unique projects outdoors, especially when they involve materials like aluminum, acrylic or wood. If there is an idea for a project I will look for a way to create it. So if you are a curious person or if you like to make projects here you will find all kinds of DIY, tutorials, step by step, how to projects, crafts, wood art, woodworking, carpentry projects, handmade projects, projects with common tools, projects in all kinds of materials and the making process of my projects.
My goal is to inspire other to use their imagination and creativity to create unique pieces with their hands at a professional level without being a professional :).
At the end of each video or in the description you can find the plans I used for that project.
Looove the way the plates came out. Thin it's the best DIY Plates video ever. But all the time and effort into it looks scary. Think I will just buy some plates
Great video, & very informative! I have a suggestion: you could try using "Plasti Dip" rubber spray to coat the weights with multiple layers. It would help them hold together better and last longer. Plus, it comes in various colors, so you could even color-code the weights according to their size.
@@_Donideas_or liquid soap as cheaper solution ) and add polypropylene fiber, or small screws or cutted wool - it will make it stronger, help it bond. Also concrete gets its full strength up to 15 days, and first 3 days u need to spray it a little cause its need moisture to finish chemical process wright way. In my country we build houses with concrete and bricks, not with wood)
Hi. I can buy 2*10, 2*25 and 2*45 pound plates for $175. How much money did you spend on materials of the same set? And I understand that you didn't do it because of the economy. I wish you success.
Thanks! Well, not everyone has access to a set of weight plates at that price, and if they do, they're probably pretty crappy, at least for me, because I care about aesthetics :) , but you know muscles don’t seem to care. I spent around $200 and it’s still cheaper than a pair of 45lb plates here, so it’s a win win for me. 👍🏼
@@_Donideas_ Waaait what? $200? Could you please give prices for each spent item? in the US 94 lb. Portland Cement - $17 or 80 lb. Concrete Mix - $6 50 lb. All-Purpose Gravel - $5 Silicone Caulk - $10-12 for 10 oz boards, plastic, PVC, wire, fiber etc just scraps or very cheap
😂 yes but concrete is the cheapest thing of the project, here you can get 110 pounds of concrete for $5 pretty cheap but the cost of melamine, fiber reinforcement, foam boards, caulk, tape, the silicone, I think I included the tools as well like the spring scale and basic tools like the bucket and shovel etc… I listed everything in the description, that’s the complete total cost so I think it’s pretty close :)
Without regard to aethstetics, one could make plates for approximately $1.00 each, by making your mould out of wetted sand, and priming it with diesel-oil. You might have to get creative on the weighing process if you want it to remain dirt cheap.
This video gave me some ideas I didn't think about and I'm pretty ingenious myself, so I'll give one back, instead of making your own silicone bumper just reuse a bicycle inertube folded over as many times as necessary, and use oil.
you can use a sander for vibration to get the air pockets out of the cement while it’s in its drying process. But, you have to leave one side open. It will stay flat and even during the whole process.
This is prob the best video I've seen thus far on making the concrete weight plates. I have a 3d printer and plan on using it to make the stencil instead of the foam though. Thank you!
Thank you very much, I really appreciate it :), 3d printing, that’s a much better way to do it 🤯 I’m not gonna lie It was so boring to make so many stencil by hand hehe. Good idea
put in a lot of work, plates look amazing, great job. I only think the bumper is not wide enough cause the edges are the most fragile part which is left uncovered. I wish there would be a cheap way to rubberize the entire plate..
Hey yes I think that’s a better option, but for the engraving instead of the hammer and bits I will recommend you to edge it with salt water, cotton and some 9v batteries or many 1.5v batteries, there are many videos out there on how to edge stainless steel, it’s nothing too complicated, I have done it before and it is super cool.
I have cut a slot in the base (where phone rest on) for the charger cable to fit in when you stand the phone upright. Easier to just slide the cable through the slot. In your case you will have to keep plug/unplug the cable from that hole
@@_Donideas_ noted. I also had the backing piece also out of wood but i like that perpex foot stands. It looks stylish👌🏼. I will "steal" your idea if you dont mind😁
Thank you, that sounds great, I put an oil base finish I think it is linseed oil or something like that but use a sponge to apply it because of the texture on the sides if you are doing that. :)
@@_Donideas_ i love the nifty ideas you put out there. Your video content is cool. It gives me lot of insite and ideas of my own. Thank u. Im new to your channel and has already subscribed. Looking foward to learn more from your expertise👌🏼👍🏼
Amazing to see a woodworker that uses the most basic set up of tooling and materials to create something delightful. This box is wonderfully proportioned and thought out. Please treat yourself to a nice carpenters bench, a couple of finer toothed saws, and maybe a little block plane, because you truely deserve it. 👏👏
ME QUEDÉ COMO HIPNOTIZADA VIENDO.... ... GRACIAS.
