I’ve been searching for this song since they played it during a fashion show I was in-circa 1985. I heard it once, and it stuck with me all these years. I’ve tried humming it into music search apps, and was beginning to wonder if I’d dreamt the whole thing. I finally tried SoundHound tonight and FOUND IT!!! I’m soooo happy to have this song!!! It feels like an old friend ❤️
I've rocked out to the Gigi D'Agostino version for over 20 years, but for some reason the song on the official Nik Kershaw channel is not available in the US. Sounds like a buildup to a Nord VPN ad, but anyway, spasibo tovarish George Stefanov for making this accessible to us Yankees. Glad to hear the original. Now off to listen to the original Murray Head version of One Night in Bangkok
I heard this song when I was a small child circa 2008, and wasn't ever able to find it again until last night. Still just as good and it's now nostalgic for me even though it's twenty years before my time - music video is perfect too!
Im 26, knew this song for more than 5 years now, such a classic, and I love how hes aged so well and still produces nice songs (although admittedly, I havent heard most of them). This and 'Wouldn't it be good" are my favourites, but im sure its just about everyones favourite forthose that have heard him at least once. <3
So Nik is a spy who breaks into a house, but the Riddler sneaks up on him and pushes him down a trap door. Inside, it's a surreal Escape Room where he deals with the Riddler, Egghead, Baby Doll, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. The Escape Room is shaped like a question mark, and the dot contains an old man near a hole which is the way out.
Its Bible sense. Blessing of Babilon means faith of idol. Aran was idol priest. His studies lead to the hell. Conclusion america must rejected of false religious
I know Nik Kershaw said this song has no meaning but the parallels to American consumerism, returning to a primitive life-style and the wars over oil are too much to ignore.
