RU-vid has lots of Martha Argerich recordings. Really poorly-encoded recordings uploaded in low quality. All of ArgerichHD's audio content is encoded directly to AAC-LC 192kbps (RU-vid's native audio format) from FLAC sources and embedded in 1280x720 H.264 .mp4 files so that no further compression or transcoding takes place. There are other pianists worth listening to besides Martha, I suppose, so this channel features some of their recordings, too.

Mis-Translated ... German "getragen" does not mean "worn" in this context. It is more like "drawling" and does not mean depressed or so

I came to this from reading Thomas Bernhard's, "The Loser." Bernhard's obsession with Gould compelled me to listen to this and it is beautiful. Written to help a wealthy insomniac patron to sleep.

There are so many ways to play this work. In the case of Glen Gould it is undeniably beautiful and intelligent. It is quite irrelevant to debate the "authenticity" of his performance or to complain that you hear Gould rather than Bach. How fortunate we are to hear Gould!

This recording is an anathema. The sole purpose of this is to scrub Glenn Gould's soul from the original recording. The whole point of the record, the genius of it, are the sounds made by the performer. The air he breathes and the hums he sings between notes. What the heck are they thinking that they can program the performance into a digitally-played piano and remove the ethereal quality all of his recordings have? Buy the original Columbia album, do not listen to this.

100% disagree. Gould's only fault was his damn humming, which drove you crazy. Thanks so much to Zenph!

I really liked his Mazeppa but I noticed that for the thirds in the beginning he seems to take the first two thirds in the left hand and then the next four thirds in the right hand. In the score, Liszt, I think, wrote the last two thirds in the left hand meaning that you have to cross the hands. I'm going to try it the way he did it in the video to see if it makes a difference as this piece is unbelievably difficult lol

This is God speaking, I just hear it. Its so balanced, intricate yet complete and expressive, so delicate yet full. This music is a miracle, a wonder, it gives you something nothing from the modern popular culture can even aim to provide. Yet you cant even compare it to something: it exists on its own, giving space for everything else yet gracefully filling its own space and time. Im so grateful it exists.
