What do you call this style of narrowboat that doesn't have a foredeck w/ doors / seating but instead has the interior space pushed forward with a full beam berth up front (and I'm assuming an emergency exit window over the pillows)? You don't see it very often (but I love it). I've been a RU-vid Gongoozler since Covid lockdown and spent a week on a hire narrowboat in Wales. I've often thought "If I were to design a boat for myself, what would it look like?" and this one hits all of my key points... a full-width, permanently-assembled bed (no fold-up bits to create a pathway w/ a mattress cut apart that has to be disassembled and stacked up every morning), reverse layout (aft kitchen), dinette. Add a clothes washer somewhere and this could have been a layout that I designed!
Hi, thanks for your comments. Usually when the bed is all the way up to the forward bulkhead doors it is because it’s what’s known as ‘a steeled in bow’ and as you say has no bow deck. However this boat actually does have a bow deck well too. The bow doors as you guessed are an acceptable escape route and not expected to be an everyday entrance. It’s always somewhat difficult to try hit all the must haves, as well as remaining feeling spacious and having ample storage, but hopefully we achieved that with “The Dazzling Jewel” Reverse layout is by far our most popular form of layout, convenient when cruising to nip in and make a drink etc as well as when people are coming onboard they don’t have to enter through the bedroom. We have more videos during all our build process on Facebook if you’d like to follow facebook.com/cainnarrowboats
Wow, I see why you called it the Dazzling Jewel but dazzling is almost an understatement. I wish the new owners good luck and hope they appreciate your incredible craftsmanship.
Wow, that boat is stunning! I love the quality of your work. I’m currently living abroad but I think a boat like that could be perfect for my periods in the U.K. How long is your waiting list at the moment?
Hi Gary, thank your support. Currently we only have one slot available, the build will start in May 2025 and handover of the vessel by 1st September 2025. All other build slots for the foreseeable future are filled. Thank you for watching.
Hi. Thanks for your reply. I’m not sure when I’ll be back in the country but hopefully I’ll be there within a couple of months, then I’ll come and have a chat with you. I’d really love one. Thanks for your time.
It’s never ignorance to ask a question. A cruiser hybrid is a mix of a cruiser stern, but with elements of a semi trad stern. So on this particular boat, it has quite an open rear deck which is the cruiser style, but with double length lockers and enclosed with a steel rear dodger. These elements together make it an enclosed hybrid stern. We do have an external video of this and other boats all of which feature a variety of the hybrid sterns. Please see the other videos on our RU-vid channel.
Having lived in the US for the majority of my life, I always appreciate the different types of homes, especially those of the mobile variety. This is absolutely amazing!!
Because most British network canal-water-locks are narrow ! Hence narrow canal boats . ..& Wide-beams boats 1012+ft . mainly operate on British rivers .
Wow! How do you find time to make beautiful boats and make and edit stunning videos? You are a mastercraftwoman. Congratulations on building another princess of the canals. 😃
@@cainnarrowboats9164 sparked my head to want to do it to my van ,would be so cool ,you could start a business, this time next year you'll be a millionaire.,My van is not a three wheeler .
@@michaelbenton2518 I like your enthusiasm and belief in us, thank you. If you did want to do it on your van contact us via Facebook and I’ll post the pics of me painting the flag in stages and show how to get the maths for the flag if your painting on something that isn’t a perfect 2:1 ratio to enable to correct stretching/squiring of the flag dimensions👍🏻
True reverse style (salon kitchen bedroom) versus the faux reverse style (kitchen, salon bedroom ) that people erroneously call the reverse of tradition (bedroom kitchen salon )
Hi, Could you travel down to Wolverhampton this way? I've often wondered how i would get to my home town by narrowboat and what routes i would take from hull.
Hi yes the River Humber on to the Trent is how you would travel from Hull to Wolverhampton. Down load the “canal map” app it’s free and you will see the route via river and canals.
