Hello! For manual kiln, I replaced all of my elements. Every other one isn’t working, so you have any troubleshooting advice? There are two per switch (6total). Thanks!
Hi there, I'm sorry I must have missed your question - I thought I replied! I'd double check that you have all the bars connected properly as they connect one set of elements to the next ones!
It's a henna cone. It's a piece of plastic cellophane rolled up like a piping bag. You can look up tutorials on RU-vid on how to roll a henna cone :) then I use a big icing bag to fill them. I have a video on it too.
It hasn't ever gone moldy for me, even after extended periods of storage (illness and moving had me not doing pottery for over a year and I just unpacked my things last week. No moldy clay)
I don't want to miss any details but the text overlay blocks put some of your dialog box and cuts off the last sentence. If you have the transcript please include a link. I am trying to use context to guess.
I'm not sure what you mean. If you need more time to read the text you can pause the video. I'm trying to guess from context what you mean too 😉 but I'm happy to help if there's something you want to ask me!
What beautiful mugs!! Love that glaze. I would absolutely LOVE to dip glaze but I don’t know anyone who does and it seems like a lot can go wrong if you don’t do everything right. I love that you said you have to let that last drip dry on the rim!! Makes sooo much sense. I’m hoping to find a dipping glaze class I can go to. Not being able to ask questions when needed is a huge downfall of online classes for me.
It's definitely hard when you're on your own. Lots of trial and error. I would recommend getting the brush glazes you like, in powder form first. That's how I transitioned. I was using Amaco Blue Rutile brush glaze and I bought the powder. It's cheaper and faster and is a "safer" way to start. It comes with instructions of how much water to add etc. You still have to do lots of testing but at least you don't have to buy 30 different ingredients. Then when you are ready to mix your own , look UP Sue MacLeod for her beginner recommendations. She's great.
@@studiostiina840 Not a problem at all. I hadn’t read the comment until now and I’m glad I saw it. I didn’t even think about that. I know about sue. She’s incredible.
Do you have issues from breathing in the mold? I have issues with mold growing from my piecrs drying. I have a basement studio, so opening windows isn't always an option. I get a sore throat from mold irritation.
Hi there, I'm sorry you're struggling! I'd look into getting an air purifier that is rated for mold, or else try a different clay that can dry faster without cracking, and use a gentle fan maybe.
Hi there, this is only done on finished pots. These are unglazed wild clay which is why it maybe looks like bisque or unfired clay, but they are vitrified and ready for use :)
This is great info thanks. The manual did not help me. I think it was for another model. One problem I have is that my switch will go on, but then that latch pops up and the cover for the start button falls down. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I got this second hand and it is my first time using it.
Hi there, it sounds like the latch needs to be adjusted. I'm assuming you're putting the mini cone in the kiln sitter like in the video. If the catch isn't staying down I think your flap / latch needs to be adjusted up. You'll see there's a little screw and a metal plate, you loosen the screw and raise the plate up. Sue Mcleod has a blog post about it if you google "adjust kiln sitter"
Ginette sent me here. I'm a beginner potter(very beginner!) Im setting up a space in Italy and she's right, your videos are fantastic, even studio tours like this are so helpful! How do you figure out the template sizes, trial and error?
I so agree with you on this! I am the same when watching people cutting out templates in the middle...feel uncomfortable...I make a lot of test tiles out of cut offs.
Hi Steina, I am Linda from Iceland. Thanks for sharing this invention of yours. I love your ideas and the way you work. Your mugs are beautiful. I have been wanting to make one of these home made extruders but didn't know how/where to close it up at the end. Where did you get that test cap?
@@studiostiina840 Thank you for your reply. I am definitely going to check if I can get a pip end cap here..... Looking forward to try it out and experiment with a home made extruder!
@@studiostiina840 Sorry earlier, for writing Steina, not Stina.... It was not supposed to happen, but sometimes the fingers get in the way .... ;-) When I am trying to throw...they do all the time ;-) I like handbuilding, so I have never really stuck to the wheel and really exercised like I should.... Guess I am the impatient one when it comes to that.
Hi there, it's called a henna cone. There are dozens of tutorials online and I haven't made a detailed one myself. I watched a bunch of different ones to learn but I still found it quite difficult at first. If you search RU-vid for "roll henna cone blurberry buzz" and find her video with blue cellophane, that was my favourite video. Lots of practice and Keep trying 💜
