Hey I was going to visit Manilla for a few weeks. Gym is important to me so can you give me a name of a gym with a large range of equipment - more towards bodybuilding than anything else. Classes are not important to me.
hey man. i’m the same as you. i don’t care about classes. i’m into pure weightlifting for all body parts. i’m new to manila/bgc. what gym did you find accommodated you the most in terms of what you are looking for?
I like your reviews. Maybe 1 day soon I'll be creating a new gym. I do have a question - this is the 2nd review I've seen you've deducted points for not having a pendulum squat machine. I've been a member of gyms like Golds, Powerhouse, 24 Hours, Muscle Systems, and at least 3 more privately owned gyms - none of these gyms ever had a pendulum squat. Even the ones where many IFBB pros trained in San Francisco downtown never had a pendulum squat. Most of these gyms had maybe 1 hack squat machine ,maybe 2 at most - which is nice to pair with a leg press machine variation. My question is - are pendulum squats popular in the Philippines since you include it in your grading system? Just trying to gather info on equipment that's commonly used for the region.
I can't call it a waste of time, It's more of an accessory work. But when you said that you use it as a warmup it's like you're wasting some extra energy from your tank for you to push extra reps in. If you have weak elbows like us 90% of the lifters then i suggest you warmup with an empty bar for like..20-30 reps(10/15 full reps, 10/15 half reps without stopping. Go fast as possible for blood flow) and then go straight to your working set.
Im currently a member at Anytime Fitness and even if you can access all their branches, the gyms can vary in sizes and space. There are AF branches that are quite small in comparison to Surge.
Congratulations to the new job in Japan. 100% agree that "Isolation are waste of time" is a reaction to newbies doing only isolation, usually as taught by coaches. Even more bizzare would be that the most common goal of newbies is fat loss.
Great content! Have been waiting for a long time for someone to do reviews on gyms here in the metro. Can you please do a review of anytime fitness royal plaza? Thank you!
If you're a serious lifter, then then place is a hard pass. Those machines are easy to max out and seem to be the default go to equipment for most gyms. Only 2 squat racks is a huge disappointment, gyms like these should have bare minimum 5 for peak hour times and personal trainers with clients.
This is a great video! Been thinking about what gym is best to join. Ideally want to pick one by the end of the year. So this is awesome. Thanks Fucio!
Good advice. Thanks. I’m Filipino-American in Korea and have lived and worked all over Korea and Japan. My wife is Korean. Family is everything. And so is gym life. Lol. I have free access to five gyms on the base I’m at and two are open 24 hours.
Bought myself a homegym mid pandemic. If you wanna save money, home gym for sure. But home gyms for sure misses out on the socialising and community aspect.
