Na ja, ein wenig spooky war es zum Schluss schon mit Wetten dass….aber was die Amis für ne Scheiße in ihrem TV zeigen ist auch nicht gerade von herausragender Klasse.

also habe das jetzt nochmal gesehen und so arrogant und überheblich wie so einige aus Hollywood meinen sich beschwern zu müssen die scheinbar in Hollywood total verwöhnt werden - Halle Berry Tom Hanks und einige weitere da merkt man wie eingebildet die sind außer wenn jemand eingeladen wird und die ganze Sendung nur Sinnlos rum sitzt als Maskotchen - gab es mehrere Sendungen
Wetten dass…? was a very impressive show and featured many of the world’s biggest starts at its peak. For example, one episode had Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg sitting on the couch with Thomas Gottschalk. There are only a few shows that could offer such a lineup on a single evening.

I liked Wetten Dass very much, I don t know what there is so hard to get about it, it s a normal funny show with bets, games and stars, it was always super entertainin, that Americans can not see all that in one show, shows their limitation….and i grew up as a foreigner in Germany, so not even real German, but I have to defend the Germans here although I also don t like or get them always, but this show was a great show for whole family with all in it
It was a family show, everyone got something out of it. The adults would enjoy the interviews and the bets, the kids would focus on the bets... and it was live, so things went wrong all the time, which made it pretty amusing. It's just a good evening of light entertainment, uninterrupted by commercial breaks and some of the bets were genuinely impressive. I'll never forget this dude that towed a truck with a car through a stamp. Yes, a stamp. That amount of fine control is just impressive. Every show had at least one bet where you'd go "Huh, I didn't know you could actually do that, wow" Of course you'd have trouble enjoying it if you had the attention span of a hamster on crack or are desensitized by today's 24/7 hyper bombardment of blasting entertainment...
My guess, why americans are so confused, is because they think "Wetten dass" was a talk show. It wasn't. Like at all. It was a quirky, crazy game show, where the focus was oriented to the bets through and through. Like, the stars were great and everything, but, at least in my point of view, I wanted to see people do the weirdest stuff, to prove what they're capable of. Like, the goal of the show wasn't to have a talk with stars. The smalltalk and interviews had only one reason, which was to waste time lmao. The goal was to give people with weird quirks or hobbies, at which they were exceeding, a stage, to entertain fellow germans/austrians/swiss people. And if you think about the show that way, I hope it makes more sense :)
Correct! Its all about the crazy bets and not a real "talkshow". Rather a family show you can watch with children and celebrate the evening with some food together. But still with all those millions watching (Biggest european show) isnt it a bit rude to leave early saying "got better things to do/need to catch my jet"? Ok, if youre Michael Jackson. ...but who is Will Arnett or Megan Fox anyway? Chance missed here. On the other hand David Hasselhoff... ;)
The concept of late night talk shows simply doesn't work in Germany. Many tried it, but they all failed, with the exception of Harald Schmidt. Germans don't want to watch people talk, they feel like there can be only 2 minutes or so of talking, then, some silly practical bullshit must happen. Also, Wetten, dass...' host Thomas Gottschalk was cringy af and often kinda sleazy when interacting with women.
@@ScepticGinger89 omg yes. I never noticed as a kid, but when I watched the special recently, I couldn't believe some jokes and phrases he was pulling. A little bit uncomfortable, but it doesn't bother that much imo. Only of course, if the invited women were okay with it
@@ScepticGinger89 Harald Schmidt Show was great/the one and only yes :), ....but if germans didnt want "to watch people talk for more than 2mins", why are there so many political talkshows? Lanz, Illner, Will, Maischberger, hart aber fair,.. - just to name a few. Usually 1 moderator and 4-5 guests discuss about one topic. (Corona nowadays^) These are highly popular formats and can be watched throughout the day.
The weird part probably wasn't the show setup, but the fact that they expected huge American stars to sit there for hours!!! Even the best American shows can't expect to have star guests live for more than 30 minutes.

I am not surprised that Wetten, dass ist too complicated for americans, lol. It's an absolut impressive show with impressive people, well until some american actors are invited. The show really doesnt need them at all, they are always boring and not thankful. Halle Berry and Tom Hanks were the worst. I mean they can promote there boring movie in front of 35 mio. people and all they do is talking bad about this show, how arrogant. Hugh Jackmann was really cool at Wetten, dass though, but he is australian.
Naja..."America's got Talent" oder "Family Feud" könnte man jetzt auch sehr witzig beschreiben, falls das einer noch nie gesehen hat.... da kann man sich auch immer fragen: Warum???
