We are Jason and Karen! We counted, and there's just two of us! What else were we going to call our channel? It's Just Two People, of course! All joking aside, this Channel is just starting to get off the ground as of August 2023, and we hope that you'll keep checking back as we grow it and mold it into what we hope it will become!
We both share a love for photography, videography, and the great outdoors. Not only that, but we have big plans for the future that will end up being documented here if they come to fruition! In the meantime, we hope you will join us as we document living in the beautiful, rural heart of the U.S., and also as we edit and upload older footage of some of the incredible sights we have seen thanks to our background in storm chasing!

The walk is about 1.5 miles with some fairly steep climbs, but it’s well worth doing. Give yourself a couple of hours to do it. There is indeed a car park there. If you go, we hope you enjoy it there. It’s truly a magical location. 🙂
I grew up in that part of the world, a trip to Skipton was a treat. Back in the mid 60s, I would go fishing in the Leeds Liverpool canal near Apperley Bridge on the Leeds side of Silsden. I feel very nostalgic for what was a very happy time as a 10-year-old. I enjoyed watching your trip and glad you enjoyed it, and I thought the production quality of the videos was good too.
What a wonderful story - thank you so much for sharing that. We absolutely fell in love with the area and can see why you have fond memories of growing up there. We had a wonderful time on the boat and look forward to exploring the area again in the hopefully not too distant future. Just came here from NOSW and ... had my dreams crushed in the 1st minute, because I was wondering how you were intending to be able to emigrate from the US - as the canals are a dream of mine... and here I find one of you is CHEATING by already being Scottish. ;) {sigh} I'm in my mid 50s already and it's only going to get HARDER to get accepted someplace else.
I’m so glad to hear you found us through the NOSW podcast. 😀 Yes, if Karen wasn’t already a U.K. citizen, we wouldn’t have a chance of making it work, so we’re fortunate in that regard. It’s still not going to be easy though to emigrate the way we intend to using cash savings. It requires a lot of money held in a bank account for five years. We go over that some in our latest pros and cons video. It’s a fairly long watch, but we’ve divided it up into chapters, and it’s the very first con on there. I do hope you’re at least able to make it over there for a canal holiday if you haven’t already done so. 🙂
@@JustTwoPeople I spent 5w in 2018 on my aunt’s 28’ Springer (“the narrow boat maker for fans of the original VW beetle”) and.., I’ve been longing to go back ever since. Maybe at least someday I’ll find a job that’ll let me work remote (and on gmt) 6 months of the year…
Ah, that must’ve been awesome. I wish we had been able to have that much time on the boat, but just a few days is all we were able to do unfortunately. Those Springer boats are a bit different with their v-bottom hulls, and there are still quite a few around I believe. 🙂 Yeah, it sounds like the six months there and six months here is about the only way to do it if you don’t have a way over otherwise. I suppose it would be possible to find a high enough paying job to satisfy the immigration authorities, but unfortunately, they’re raising the salaries needed for that much higher than was previously needed in order to make it more difficult for people to emigrate.

Yes, the American decision that no, we shouldn’t keep the canals, because we are so tight for space and need to reuse them as soon as they’re less needed… It’s frustrated me for years
So glad you enjoyed the canals round there. Being from near where you are its hard to belive a lot of the canals were in disrepair bridges bricked up, locks damaged beyond repair and even talk of filling the canals in when i was a kid. .

I remember watching The Weather Channel after this happened. They had a great narrative since the name of the town hit was Happy, Texas. "The people of Happy, Texas were anything but happy..." I guess for that day, they should've changed the name of the town to "Sad, Texas". The town's motto is the "town without a frown", but they had everything to frown about after the tornado hit them.
Exact same journey as you. Watching RU-vid videos for years and then finally did a trial run vacation on the Trent & Mersey. Now waiting a few years to retire and go full time for a few years. Except I, husband, is from the UK originally.

I was 6 when this tornado ripped the top of our basement off and threw half our brick house on top of us. I have pretty severe tornado anxiety. Was cool to see the monster all these years later, thank you.

I’m very happy with it. All the non storm chase videos on our channel have been shot with it aside from a few iphone and drone clips. I’ve made a few color setting adjustments here and there along the way and feel like I’ve gotten to a point where it replicates color very accurately. I feel like it’s the best bang for the buck if you’re wanting to shoot 4k video. It can also be used with the Weebill S gimbal with a Smallrig weight attached to the plate to balance it so that’s a plus as well.

Such a unique and rare environment that can simultaneously support both large hail and significant tornadoes.
