Tom Ford is the most American of all the designers here. Even if I was not much of a fan of his in my teens, cause I was enamored with the likes of avant garde designers, he had and still has his own vision. He never caved to the pressure of Anna Wintour. He created his own path. Kors, Jacobs, even the Brits, were pretty much nothing, in a commercial point of view. He did it his own way, and he is still doing it his own way and it is still working. Weirdly enough, Todd Oldham and Tom Ford are, originally, from Texas and both seem to do things their own way. L'esprit d'Amerique.
