Question, so I never worked before so I wouldn't have a tax transcript but my mother has. The school is asking for my tax transcript but I never worked. Do I give them my mother's tax transcript? They said something like a non filer form which is just verification that you haven't filed before. But a friend of mine all he had to do was give his mother's tax transcript to them and done, Though he never worked before. Mind you he goes to a different School, is there something I'm missing here or do I just give them my mother's transcript even though they're asking for mine. Was it bad that I fax and mail my 4506-t form and heard nothing? Is it different from school to school?
Hello. If you did not work in 2018- you will not be required to provide a tax transcript. You will be asked for a "non filers letter" from the IRS. When you completed the 4506-T form and mailed/faxed it to the IRS you should have received a letter from the IRS indicating that you did not work. That letter will serve as your proof. If you have yet to receive a non-filers letter, I would recommend reaching out to the college to let them know you are experiencing difficulty retrieving your non-filer's letter.
