Join me as i take a deep dive into the RC hobby, I will take you on my journey to see what its like as a beginner entering not only the RC hobby and community but also video production.
I still remember my first RC car. Waking up that Christmas morning and finding that Tyco Rebound under the tree. If you can remember that car you know it received a proper bashing. I may have killed that truck but my passion for the hobby laid dormant. UNTILL NOW.
You would spend less than you did using recycled materials and dry materials you collect from outside. You do buy glue and paint, cheap in quantity, but the free dry materials on their own can provide most of the colour as well as traction.
I am glad i saw this video before i want out and got Expanding foam and plaster of Paris - i totally did not think about using paper mache - i have worked with it before - Duh..!! so much easier and cheaper. It may take longer to dry - i am in no rush. going to try this this first, with old boxes, plastic bottle.
Finally another guy who doesn't just go buy cans of expanding foam, plaster cloth and spray paint. Why buy what is available free? My advice is don't build on a base so you get a 2 sided obstacle. For surfacing and colour I use diluted white glue, and sifted collected soils and sand from outside. Also a bag of concrete powder. I use washes of acrylic activist paint to colour the surface, soils and saw dust. Very realistic and durable. The secret is variation in the colours. Too many guys just apply one ir two solid colours.
@davideades4839 Hey Thanks for checking out my video. I'd like to try out some other building techniques too. I just used what I had. I didn't want to spend too much on building materials as I already spent all my money on new RC trucks.
@KPtain Hey Thanks for the positive feedback and the subscription. It is much appreciated. I hope to do some more of these builds when I get some more time off work.
Just found the Granite 3s v3 on Amazon on sale for 270 with 5 month no interest financing(for member maybe?). Ordered the red and white one. I think the other 3s RTRs are around 330 but some of them and likely other Arrma models have the financing atm. Good time to get one. Have fun!
@JamesDirtRC yeah I thought about getting a bigger battery or even just an extra or two. This boat seems like the best bang for your buck, but that new 4 foot long one looks sweet too.
