Nice review! Thank you for sharing. I think the nib feed is made of ebonite as opposed to plastic; German pens from this era, and earlier has similar feeds (e.g Soennecken, Aristokrat etc.).
Honestly, would be more useful to see the back side of the paper after you've laid all that ink down, rather than just watch you write for seventeen minutes. Bleed and ghosting are important to a lot of people when choosing paper/ buying expensive notebooks.
Excellent review! For pen testing fun try Millard Port's "Wit n' Wisdom: 250 Pangrams for Everyday Use" available at a reputable on-line store. Lots of fun testing your pen with unique pangrams!
1.Model 45 FP - Classic Black Can I fill the ink with an eye dropper method? 2.Model 40 Panther FP - Black Pink Philly 22 SE Is there a converter installed?
All Moonman pens are cheaper copies of other pens. They’re not bad - I have a c1 and like it - but I’ve never seen a Moonman pen that’s an original design.
Looking at matching finishes, the deskpen is currently around $250 less than its fountain pen counterpart (Long, piccolo, etc.). That might explain the non-lacquered threads and plastic feed, though I'm not sure that alone would add up to such a drastic price drop
There are a few minor differences, the question I have is how much has the C1 actually increasing interest in the Shinobi and thus increased orders for it? It has a many month waiting list, are buyers of the C1 more or less likely to commit to the cost and wait? As quick as everyone is to hate on the "ommage" I'm willing to bet that replica has been very profitable for Shawn indeed. Maybe too even much.
Uh so if you look in the forums. Newton actually talked about it. The shinobi and c1 is actually not newtons or moonmans design. Its actually from a newtons client who ordered a custom pen. So there you go.
Can confirm, in relation to air travel. Travelled 2,5 hours and it leaked a good bit of ink, no idea how since it was shut tight. Thankfully I had it in a ziplock.
I have just put one if these in the trash, First the thread between the nib and body leaked After replacement The piston leaked I love fountain pens and turn pens from kits, but for the price of this pen, not at all happy,
Luke potter. - I wonder if you have any other TWSBI fountain pens and if so, if you’ve had similar problems. I’m trying to decide between the vac mini and other TWSBI models. Any thoughts? Thanks
@@SuperManning11 these r rare propblems for most .twsbi has improved the quality a lot now ..all are good it depends on ur personal taste which one to choose
T K Thanks. I went ahead and got the vac mini with a stub bib and I love it! So far no problems and I expect I’ll be fine, but thanks for responding. A big part of the fun of deciding what pen to get is always the research and exchanges in the comment section.
Crazy how close this thing is to my $25 Moonman C1. Almost identical in every way except the Moonman doesn't have a feed collar. The feed and nib just friction fit into the section.
