Did this job recently. In order to get the starter out I had to remove the solenoid wire to get enough room. Its very tight due to the heat shield for the catalytic converter. Don't worry about the starter power wire till you get it out. Reconnect the starter wire when installing the new starter. After the starter is in then reconnect the solenoid wire. Its very tricky without long needle nose pliers.
You saved me over $10k in replacement unit by giving me the courage to go up and work on my furnace. I was having issues with the burning staying lit, had a technician come claiming it was the gas regulator that was the problem, then charged me $1100 to replace it which I thought was ridiculous, and for some reason that fixed the problem and then I was told I needed a new unit. Ended up finding out the pressure switch was clogged with air not being able to escape through the drain pipes causing water to back into the inducer motor and the heat exchanger. Cleaned the blockage and it is working a lot better than I expected.
I have a carrier, infinity 96. The condensation tubing runs directly along the floor into the drain (We have an old home). The way the tubing sits, sometimes water collects in it and then it has to kind of be pushed uphill in order to go out. About a year ago, our furnace wasn't working. I also noticed that The tubing was full of water. I emptied it out, turn the breaker off and on, and everything worked. Now, we're facing a different problem, but I wonder if it's related. The furnace stopped working, I noticed that the tubing was full of water. So I did the same thing above (emptied it turned the breaker off and on). The heat worked for a couple of hours, then two or three hours later it's stopped. I noticed again that the tubing was full of water (seems like a lot of water for two or three hours). I emptied it again. Furnace worked for a while, then I got a blower fan fault error, followed by an ignition lockout error. There was a little bit of water in the line but I was having a hard time getting it out. Eventually I did. I accidentally removed the line from the trap, and I could hear a whole bunch of water inside (releasing the line resulted in a glug glug glug noise). I attached it back on, no water was released into the tubing. Around the machine and we got the same error codes. Now, the machine has been running fine for about 12 hours. Do you think this might be because there was excess water in the trap that has now cleared? Thanks. Very strange! We did hear some rumbling and a little bit of squeaking in the fan, but our technician seem to think that wasn't a big deal. He suggesting we replace our blower but everything's been working. I think I might wait for another day or two to see if the issue has resolved itself (in hopes that some water may have been trapped in the system that has been released). Any thoughts here from anyone would be helpful.
