Hi Richard, I can more or less do piroflips but as soon as I increase the speed of the tail. Do you have any advice for that? I also have trouble staying in the same place when I do piroflips, the helicopter goes off in all directions.
Essentially piro flips are really difficult, and because the tail can be fast, I couldn't find a quick way of fixing them. I think it just takes time, not something you can fix in a weekend. Vary the practice and speed, make sure you do a few every day. Try them from standstill as well as pirouetting. Try them with half, 1 and 2 piros, and they will come.
Funnily enough I've been recently looking at US events to visit. I've not been out since the Las Vegas Funfly. I'll add RCHO to the list and do some investigating.
sorry my english is not great😅 but I think that this maneuver that we see a lot is a rolling loop but with only one roll in the same direction. but you reverse the direction of roll in the middle of the maneuver
Aye! The funny helicopter man is back with a new one! Now this seems like something I can actually do, maybe. I'll try it tomorrow during my sim session as this explanation seems to make it very easy to understand. Excellent video as always.
No worries. I think you normally fly midweek, so I wasn't expecting to see you. I've been wanting to fly there for years, so took the chance. Defo, a meetup is still on the cards!
@@rchelicopter No ironically I fly mostly on a Sunday, keeping the Saturday for family. During the week if I'm on time off though or holidays or i can get to the field in time but I'm an hour away nowadays as opposed to only 10 minutes. Ironically I'm only 10 minutes away from Phoenix Rotors but I'm certainly no longer compatible with that club from their previous very poor membership choices - well known in the hobby i believe. Although that has been rectified now, I've been the moral scapegoat from a shockingly poor set of decisions made and the only person who formally raised the issue which was contrary to what the committee wanted. Another life and awl that......... but the rationale of not really being able to fly there - too much info perhaps but I've nothing to hide and want to ratify here and now, why I can't just literally pop less than 10 minutes down the road which being truthful, is actually starting to peeve me off. Best as ever...............
@@HeliShed I know what it's like, seen enough of that sort of thing, and still do. You either play carefully all the time, or be yourself and come what may.
Ok, after following along in neXt sim that was harder that I thought it would be... Flying about, and flying within set parameters are two very different things it seems :)
Thank you very much. I have often wondered the name of those maneuvers . What is it that people are so secretive about things? I'm sure this video will save people a lot of frustration and perhaps a lot of crashes for those who don't have a simulator and a lot of money lol. I appreciate your channel and whenever I get another helicopter, I plan on practicing more so that I don't have to keep replacing helicopters
Thanks. I know what you mean, but I don't think it's deliberately secretive. Top pilots are too busy to want to revisit older moves and new pilots are too busy learning them. Cheers!
Awesome video as always. I have recently started working on my funnels on sim, (they still look awful) but I'll admit, some of these manoeuvres I've never or only heard of once. When I get some time I'll learn these too. :)
Skids in time travel. Richard you are a mad man 🤣 I really appreciate the time you put into videos that even a fellow comp flyer can learn from you. We need more people like you in the hobby, otherwise for new flyers its near impossible to work stuff out. You have helped me learn the modern technical flying after a 10 year break 😌

A different kind of video than the training videos, well done! This showcases your skill and the fact you are having fun. I expect a nice view count for this one 😄the tail strike was awesome. I thought it was going in for sure and you would be fishing for the heli 😬 happy you got so lucky. Although probably you could have saved it outside of the pond even if you lost the tail with your skills. Just final note is that your "disclaimer" at the end was barely audible since the music was too high and won over your voice a bit. Also also at the last seconds you show some suggestions so they cover your disclaimer as well. Maybe leave a few seconds for an outro to allow the cards to show up and avoid them covering up actual content.
Thanks Javier. Funnily enough I was watching one of your videos today about moving from sim to real life. That one did quite well for you. On the disclaimer I figured less than 1% actually get that far, and no-one wants to listen to a disclaimer anyway, but yes, if they don't know it's a disclaimer in the first place it will be irritating. Noted 🙏
Woops, that lake strike with the tail was making my heart stop. And just when I thought now you would be more "careful" - I was wrong! Great fun to watch! And your crazy idea is 100 % more intelligent than mine: I did very unspectacular upright flying in November 2023 on a foggy day over ice cold water with my M4... If something would have gone wrong with my very little skills.. well I probably would have never seen this heli again! Thanks for this entertaining video!!
I thought I might push Rob in 😂 The basic plan was to keep the main blades out of the water, and climb out for an auto if we lost the tail. Other than that I think we would have had to use the lifebouy they keep there to get it 🥽🏊♂
@@rchelicopter good :) I remember a video about Heli Smack Down 2010 in Rimini. There were more helis in the water, this is the picture which burnt into my memory, and this is that popping up everytime, when I see a video over the water....
Awesome video, this is genuinely one of my favourite videos you have done in a while and I feel like I would get a bit carried away and a bit too low. (awkward flashback to FPFF) Definitely enjoyed it though and very nice flight.
