For several decades, the land and lakes of Wisconsin's Northwoods have been studied by faculty and staff at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Kemp Natural Resources and Trout Lake Stations. "Too often," says Trout Lake Station director, Tim Kratz, "that research has been out of sight and out of mind in the nearby communities."

"Researchers have a tendency to focus on their science rather than discussing their results with the public," Kratz says. "But many of our staff and scientists are year-round residents of Vilas County and, we want to show our neighbors what we do and what we're learning about the place we all call home."

"Hopefully," says Tom Steele, of the Kemp Station, "this will become a successful event where people know they can grab a beer, ask a few questions and get to know the folks who are exploring the past, present and future of Wisconsin's incomparable Northwoods."

All the sponsors hope the series will let people who live in or visit the Northwoods learn about

This is from 2014 and there is much more recent evidence in 2022 than is indicated here. While adequate the recommendation of 1000 IU is probably outdated since the advent of covid and vit D effects on covid.
@NLR759
@NLR759 Месяц назад
1000 IU per day will not be adequate for most people that spend most of their time indoors. 4,000 IU daily is considered an adequate daily dose for most, but ideally you should have your blood levels tested, and then decide how much to supplement. You might need a much higher dose initially to bring up your blood levels. Then take a lower dose for maintenance.

This information is old, out of date. Watch this lecture by a university-based MD who is an expert on vitamin D: Robert Heaney ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-B9SNfrE7P1s.html . 1000 to 2000 IU is not enough. Watch the video. Also this lecture by Dr. Michael Holick ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EP81YMvs4yI.html . He is truly an expert on vitamin D, spending most of his professional life doing research on vitamin D. He actually was the first person to isolate and synthesize vitamin D3.

Sunshine vitamin or steroid hormone was the most powerful medicine on every living things on earth given by our CREATOR. Sun Exposure The best way to get vitamin D3 is through sun exposure. Go outside and get some sun, especially in the mid-day when it’s the strongest. However, many of us use sun block, which is good for our skin but not so helpful when it comes to the production of vitamin D3. By blocking out the UVA and UVB rays, sun block can interfere the skin’s ability to synthesize vitamin D3. GOD BLESS.

This woman is a dingbat! I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but she's out there! I can walk into a kennel with 100 dogs barking for their breakfast, and make it and make it quiet as a church, with one word. It isn't what I say, it's the way I say it, and no "chicken" is involved! By stopping a dog from barking by offering chicken, you aren't controlling the dog, or understanding the behavior. You're simply bribing them with a diversion! In addition, if you think the dog cares if the chicken is "organic" or not (as she apparently does), you're not playing with a full deck!

Long story short. I was diagnosed with Type 2 CRPS about 10 years ago, it was agony, but I was lucky because I got some relief by taking Tramadol 24/7. Covid came along, and acting on advice given to me previously, by an actual professor, I began to take 5,000 itu's of vitamin D3 daily. About 4 months into my regime I noticed I was steadily loosing weight, and more incredibly, the background pain from my CRPS was gone. I have been Tramadol and pain free for over 2 years, I have my life back. My weight has also dropped from 18 stone to 13 stone and cuts, bruises heal much faster. Viva vitamin D.

Sorry, but 1,000 iu D3 per day is not sufficient for anyone over the age of one or two years. A more modern (as of 2022) ballpark dose is 1,000 iu D3 per day, for every 25 pounds of body weight.

Dogs have pack awareness.
@HillariDenny
@HillariDenny 2 года назад
Regarding dogs and self awareness - Alexandra Horowitz argues that the mirror test (which dogs fail) isn't relevant in determining dog self awareness because their primary sense is smell and not vision, and the mirror test is biased towards vision-oriented animals. She goes on to describes an experiment in which a dogs own smell is altered (not their appearance) and then presented to the dog. In the tests, most dogs spend the most time smelling their own scent that has been altered. An argument for self awareness? Perhaps...

Vitamin D is absolutely essential, as it is an immune modulator. Every patient should be tested about 3 times a year. It’s a simple test. As soon as the doctor spoke against these two things, I’ve decided to turn this off. So many studies (hundreds) have been done to show that more than half of all people around the world are vitamin D deficiency. If you have low vitamin D, you have sickness and disease, pure and simple. Do yourself a favor and find another doctor who stresses the importance of this vitamin to listen to on this subject.

Big pharma doesn't want you to take plenty of vitamins D so they create so many distracting dubious trails, researche papers to create confusion, contradictions about importance of vit D. If your health is improved, well it is going to be less money for pharmaceutical business. All over the world people who died from covid or had really hard times to recover guess what, they all had very very low level of vit D. SO LOAD UP EVERY DAY
