i was there in 1992 taking sleeper train to stuttgart. the train stopped at german border for passport check, then straight to stuttgart. there is no more direct train to stuttgart. you hv to transfer some where?
Hello, The current station in Katowice was built in 1972. It was modernized in 2010 - 2013. The old station from the 19th century is located at Dworcowa Street. Currently, there are pubs, restaurants and a bank there. The "old entrance" visible in the film is therefore not a remnant of the 19th century station, but one of several entrances preserved unchanged from before the modernization of the new station. pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stary_dworzec_kolejowy_w_Katowicach pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katowice_(stacja_kolejowa)
Wi-fi on Polish trains never works. Although Polish trains have had free wi-fi for years (at least for the last 12-14 years because that's when I started traveling to my studies by train and wi-fi was already in them then), it never works. I used to travel quite a lot on trains and it has never yet occurred to me that the wi-fi worked, although it was almost always available. I don't know how they do it, but this is the reality :)
This is because train tracks are laid down in areas, where there are no radio masts, that could connect devices to the internet, at least that's what I know.
No ale Pendolino to inna sprawa, przecież to nasz skarb narodowy i tam musi działać wifi. Co prawda zamontowano je tam dopiero w 2019 - ale za to działające. W Regio już w 2010 było - ale do tej pory nie działa.
The route from Kraków is connected to the CMK, but the route towards Kielce is only one-way! What you saw connecting to the CMK was the Kozłów - Koniecpol route, kinda infamous for the 2012 Szczekociny rail crash
Top speed on between Katowice and Warsaw is 200 km/h , but there is temporary speed limit on many sections to 160 km/h as there are ongoing works on signaling system for implementation of 250km/h speed limit from next year. In upcoming years there are planned works on Warsaw - Gdansk section to rise speed to 250 from current 200.
The new Railjet welcomes you in a new design. That seems chic, but a train should not primarily be beautiful, but comfortable. In the old generation, I loved the business class seats. These were comfortable armchairs with footrests. There were also two individual seats for solo travelers. Business Class in the new generation of Railjet is no longer worth the additional charge of €12 compared to a reservation in First Class. Here, dear ÖBB, you have lost a customer. Ultimately, Business Class is a far too narrow First Class compartment with the same seats. There were paper bags in the compartment as garbage bags because there are no more garbage containers… If the seats in the old business class were comfortable, one wonders whether someone responsible for the duration of the route from Munich central station to Verona ever sat here. The seat is hard and the position is uncomfortable. The on-site charging option is also a nice innovation, but if you need to charge your cell phone in a hurry, you should have a cable with you, as the battery only fills up very slowly via the charging station. If the ÖBB plans to modernize the first generation, then it would be desirable to retain the charm of the business class there. And above all, please do not dismantle the waste containers!
Thank you for this excellent video. Your train would surely split at Feldkirch with the front section going on to Buchs and Zurich, and the rear section going to Bregenz ? I would enjoy seeing more internal trains in Austria , particularly on routes towards Graz and Villach. Many thanks.
The train get split in Feldkirch and the first train part going on to Zürich right but the rear ends in Feldkirch 1H later the train is going to Bregenz.
When you indicate the ticket prices, you should be kind enough to specify whether they are classic international fare tickets (ex TCV, for trains with no compulsory reservation) or whether they are global price tickets (ticket cost plus reservation cost and any rapid supplement). I try to avoid global price trains for which you need to purchase a ticket which is generally non-refundable or easily exchangeable. In other words, I am looking for trains for which tickets are valid that allow you to use regional, intercity and similar trains without paying supplements, as in Switzerland. I avoid trips for which an avalanche of tickets are issued like in Italy (regional trains, Frecce rossa, bianca, birulò, etc.) like the plague. Furthermore, they are legalized scams, since if you miss your connection with an Arrow due to the usual delay of the regional train, you cannot take the next Arrow.
So I was talking about the Sparschiene at ÖBB so you have a train bound but if you are living in Austria or near to Austria I can recommend you the Klimaticket
@@EuropeanRailJourneys Sparschiene Österreich: Starting price for an ÖBB Sparschiene ticket per person and direction in the indicated travel category, offer only valid for a specific train and subject to ticket allotment, can be booked max. 6 months (180 days) before departure only online and via ÖBB App. Cancellation and refund excluded. No other discounts apply when booking a Sparschiene ticket. The fare regulations of ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG apply. Sparschiene Europa: Starting price for an ÖBB Sparschiene ticket per person and direction, 2nd class, offer only valid for a specific train and subject to ticket allotment, can be booked max. 6 months (180 days) before. Cancellation and refund excluded. No other discounts apply when booking a Sparschiene ticket. The fare regulations of ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG apply. Thanks a lot for the answer. As you can read above, Cancellation and refund is excluded. Therefore it's not for me. I only want to buy tickets that are valid on any train, such as in Switzerland, so that if I miss my connection due to the usual delays, I can continue my journey on a later train. If in a certain country there are no longer any trains that can be boarded with open-dated tickets, I will no longer travel to that country. I have eliminated Italy, France and the like for years.
@@EuropeanRailJourneys Standard tickets have no longer been issued in Italy for years. Even if I have an Interrail Pass, to take a Eurocity I have to purchase the Pass fare ticket which, in case of delays, is not valid on other trains. Furthermore, in international traffic there is a legalized scam: for example, if I own an Interrail OneCountry SWITZERLAND and I ask for the Eurocity supplement from Como S. Giovanni to Zurich, they make me pay half. Same thing if you had an Interrail OneCountry ITALIA! Instead, to travel from Chiasso to Zurich or vice versa, the Interrail OneCountry SWITZERLAND is sufficient without any supplement or mandatory reservation. A huge difference in price for a handful of km of difference, i.e. the distance that separates Como from Chiasso. The same goes for what concerns the Sempione: from Domodossola onwards neither the Eurocity supplement nor the compulsory reservation is needed.
Hello, great video ! I see that there are 4 companies operating that train (PKP/CD/ÖBB/DB). Does it make a difference to ride with one or another ? If yes, which one do you recommend for that trip ?
Its like between Warsaw and Bohumin the train is operated by PKP InterCity between Bohumin and Breclav CD is operating and Between Breclav and Salzburg ÖBB and Salzburg München DB but if you want ride in a Sleeping Compartment you just can buy the ticket at öbb nightjet or ÖBB and when you want to travel in Seating Couch the cheapest way is over DB for around 25-55€ a Sleeping compartment Single at ÖBB nightjet between 235-930€
Looks like The older business class is better. And sitting opposite of each other I don’t like. No leg space enough. Airline style seats are still the way to go.
Great report! Thanks for showing the lounge; I never managed to visit it when in Budapest. Sometimes these 1st class compartments don't offer many extras in comparison to 2nd class. Why is there a door lock? :D And no soap - that is unfortunately common in Hungary. Either no soap or no water. But the restaurant carriage usually saves the day :)
I understand other's criticism here in the commentary threads ,I think it'll be much nicer if you can use correct words in English & not to make sudden camera moves often ! But,they should also realize it's hard for non English speaking people to write everything right in English .Even auto correct/ AI translations make mistakes & often they don't make sense, either ! Lol. I also noticed you are new on RU-vid who just started last year ! I think they should give you a chance to improve ! I enjoyed this video a lot myself !! I've watched this 3 times already !! I liked the train station lounge very much !! Very nice luxury looking chairs !! They reminded me of very very expensive Denish designer chairs !I love train rides / traveling on trains !! I liked the dining car,too ! I appreciated your summary at the end ! Especially, reg.dining car availability/ wheelchair access to cars / toilets .I might travel between Hungary/ Austria someday soon w mom who has mobility issues. I'm sure many will appreciate those info, too !! I really liked the content. A very good review video !! 👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🚆💞
Like others said in their comments ,it would be nice if you can correct words ( use right spellings )& sudden camera moves aren't good ,but ,they should realize it's very difficult for non English speakers to write everything correctly & even auto correct & AI translations make mistakes & sometimes they don't make sense ,either ! Lol. Also ,I've noticed you're new ,just started last year ! People should give you a chance to improve ,I think ! And your review / content were very good !! I appreciated the summary, especially reg.dining cars / wheelchair accessible cars / toilets for having mom who developed mobility issues. I might travel w mom to Hungary ,if we'll do ,we'll be taking trains between Hungary/ Austria, too ! I liked the dining car . I enjoyed watching this video ! I watched this 3 times so far . I love train rides/ traveling on trains ! 🚆 👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
I just unsubscribed. There are plenty of folks who post train vids who aren't native English speakers who take the time to spell words correctly and use proper spacing. Maybe one day that will be you. Mediocracy just isn't becoming.

Europe need a high speed train from East to West. Its sad to see, that plane although a clima killer, is prefered over trains an lot o subvention is made in their favore, The goverments should overthing their minds about!
