If the tunas are too fast for head gaffs, practice on bonitas. As a new deck hand, I wasnt allowed to gaff a yellowfin until I could head shot Bonitas. If you can gaff a bonita through the eyes, you can head gaff ANYTHING
The biggest large mouth bass I've ever seen came out of Legg Lake around 1973.. it was almost 3 feet long! The rock quarries off Arrow Hwy and the 60fwy! Full of bass
