Be consistent with your attitude and your expectations everyday. It’s hard for students to understand what you expect from them when you’re super relaxed with rules and procedures one day and then super strict and no nonsense the next.
Good advice. Using one word cues is very important. I would highly encourage new teachers to get a planner. That way they can easily glance down and see what class is on which lesson and which day.
For me, no, because the games are typically short due to the constraints of where they can run. And if a game is running long, i pick new tagger and let everyone back in. However, if you wanted a way for roadblocks to get back in, you could introduce a 3rd, different colored ball. That ball can be thrown by a roadblock at a ghost from the seated position. If they hit one, they’re back in. They can’t move to get the ball, they wait on it to roll to them. If it’s stuck somewhere, just kick it towards one of them as the teacher. Just a thought!
Thank you for the video! I’m a new PE teacher doing some last minute field day planning. I’m needing some field day games that use regular balloons… any ideas?
You could always do the relay race, where everyone has a balloon. First student in each line runs to a chair, pops their balloon by sitting on it, then runs back and tags the next player who then does the same. That continues until a team is finished. Could also give everyone a balloon and have them keep it in the air using a particular body part. When theirs hits the ground, they sit. Last one standing wins. Or you could do a relay where 2 partners hold a balloon without using their hands (stand with their back to each other and balloon between them). If it hits the ground, they have to start over… Just a few ideas!
@@RussellPaulley24 Thank you for the ideas! Definitely like them and want to use them. By chance, would you be able to make a video demonstrating those 3 balloon games?
@@RussellPaulley24 Oh nice! Hope it goes well! Ours isn’t until the first week of June. Even if you made the video after my field day though, I’d honestly still find it helpful to watch and reflect on
I do like this game and think it will be fun for teenagers from church to play but I’m trying to think through how they can play this game as teams. Any thoughts on that?
Here are a few thoughts on playing 3 ball on teams… First off, split them into teams and play the game with the exact same rules. Whichever team color is left standing in the end will be the team that wins. So, if only one player is left at the end, and he is on the “blue” team, blue team wins. If there are 3 players left with a ball at the end, and they’re all blue team, there’s no need to get down to one player, only one team is left, so the game is over. Some things to consider if playing in teams… 1) you may add 1 or two more balls. This will allow players to team up and strategize with another player on their team that has the ball at the same time. 2) consider adding a certain color of ball that can only be thrown from out of bounds to get players who are still in, out. If a player who is in picks up a this ball, they are out. This just adds another element to the game and ensures that the players who are out always have balls to throw. 3) playing this way will allow teams to keep their best players in at the end if they so choose. If your team is down to one player and you’d rather have a different player in, the “in” player could simply run by their teams best player and allow them to reach out and tag them from out of bounds. The players switch positions at that point. I hope that helps! Have fun!
The younger ones tend not to do that just because they want to run around and move anyway. But, if it becomes a problem with the older ones, I’d put a bunch of different colored hoops out. When you stop the music, shout a particular color. If you say “red” for example, only the red hoops will be safe. This keeps them from knowing what colors are safe and keeps them moving (and if you notice a kid hanging around one hoop, just shout any color except the hoop he’s hanging around).
These are so amazing. I recently started teaching P.E for kindergarten and your videos have been so helpful. Thank you so much for sharing. I hope your channel grows and you get to help other people too ☺️
