I am a EGG BEATERS /CRANK BROTHERS fan I have 4 bikes all with Titanium pedals from Egg Beaters. it looks like the cleat is very similar on design to the currently used by Crank Brothers from decades.
I thought of buying my first trail boots then saw these for €150 and got them. I usually wear size 42 (Germany) sneakers so I got these in 42 2/3 and I have to say that they feel a bit narrow and I don't know if that's how it's supposed to feel like. I'm also hesitant to return them because I've gotten them for such a good price. Do you maybe have any tips on how to know if they're the right size?
Considering buying these as available at a good price online. Wondered if Andrew you could share a quick update one year on. I am particularly interested as the waterproof qualities of the Nubuck leather as the other pair I am considering is full grain and I generally prefer full-grain leather boots. Many thanks.
Handy little tip, cut a hole in front of the ikea hobo stove and put three small nuts and bolts on the bottom to lift it off the ground to improve airflow. Waypoint survival on YT has loads of stanley hacks.
Hi its a good light pad not great if You like a Lot of room on a pad as it taper towards the Foot end I had it in the Sale for £55. But it is a Decent mat. Hope this Helps Andrew.
I have a pair of the Mammut Trovat Tour High GTX. An absolute beauty of a boot. Had them for two months now and thrown them about a bit up on Dartmoor, Devon, of which I live on the edge of. Comfortable, solid build, great lace system, excellent grip, ankle, memory foam, padded support is superb, and the rocking design of the sole, helps when clambering over the dartmoor terrain. Highly recommend the model I have for sure. I'm sure the ones in this video are equally as good.
I know I responded to your other video but these are great boots. The only negative (and its not a small problem) I've found is Mammut sizing is a bit odd. 12UK is too small for me and 12.5 is mostly OK but a bit looser around the left heel than I'd like. I can fix this with lacing but they don't feel nimble as say Scarpa which fits me a bit better. So I'm aware of a compromise fit and it's a bit irritating. The sizing up also makes the boots heavier so I'm carrying 2kg of boots on mountain hikes. Despite loving Mammut build quality and design the likelihood is I go back to wearing other brands. My wife on the other hand seems to have the perfect Mammut foot in a size 8 and she can wear everything they make with comfort. Foot shape, length, width and volume are key to getting a good fit. The Brecon, which you loved, was made on a special UK last and it works better for the average UK foot than their regular lasts.
A good little mate, tbh but quite tapered towards the Lower end, if your After a larger mat, this probably isn't for you. But it's light insulated and a Nice bit of kit.
@@andrewmorrismyvalleyandbey7972Cheers for getting back, I was in go out doors and one of the guys said it would be a good economical upgrade from my trekology ul80 given its insulation, although it looks a bit narrow and I like the larger baffles along the outside that kind of cradle you, didn't realise it has no heat reflective layer built in. I have subscribed btw.
I have the Trovat Guide IIs. Heavy but very impressive boots. I've had some excellent boots over the years and some even sturdier than these but I found the Mammuts fit well and don't give blisters. Maybe it's the memory foam in the soles, tongue, collar etc. They're snug but have the right amount of space to move your toes. Well wear and happy hiking.
Short video but an excellent view of the fall with a reasonable amount of water flowing. Too often videos are uploaded of summertime visits when the water is a lot less.
Great vid, also looking for r value or temp rating. I have the peak XL. Hopefully the guy who was asking for a wider mat sees this. The XL is quite wide, 198 cm long 63cm wide. 1.1kg 34x16cm packed size
I’m loving these videos Andrew. Gutted not to see the flip flops and socks but looked a bit chilly up there. Although I’d have probably cut down on the weight and left the camping chair at home, which would have left room for some cans of Tyskie.
Do you think it can be good for cold weather? like 5-10ºC? I'm concerned about the too much mesh on it, do you think it can be good (obviously with the right equipment of sleeping pad/bag etc)? There is even a version with a skirt... do you think it can be good from your experience?
I've slept in it a Lot Colder than 5 degrees more Like - 4 degrees depends on Wind its A Great tent as long As You Have A Good Sleep system I use a Rab accent 900 you Never get Condensation either hope this Helps.
@@andrewmorrismyvalleyandbey7972 thank you veery very much!! Your comment will make me buy it I think! Now I have to choose if this version of the one with the skirt, maybe the one with the skirt is better. Thank you a lot
Amazing soon as i heard your accent mate i've subbed! nice too see a fellow welshman doing gear reviews, came across your channel as I wanted too buy this mat. Great review!
Great review mate . This would be what I’m looking for but just too narrow . I’m looking for something a bit wider on the shoulder area even if it tapers down I’m not bothered but gotta be a bit wider at the top . Any ideas mate
Hi Stevie Thanks. There's a Great Selection out there now It is Very Narrow no Good if you want More Shoulder Room It Depends on Your Budget. What time of Year What Sleeping Bag you use Weight etc really mate. Hope this Helps Happy Camping Andrew.
Hi Stevie, The Berghaus peak XL is 198cm long 63cm wide, 36x16cm packed. 1.1 kg. Got mine on offer at go outdoors reduced from £98 to £49 I think. Hope this helps 😊
Nice kit, mine is very similar. What brand is the utensil holder? The only one I can find over here in the US is the Ikea one which is almost 6” in diameter, and about 10” tall. Much too big for how I want to set up my kit. The one you have is THE perfect size.
It doesn't have a make the Utensil holder I picked it up From The Local Hardware Store. It's a Great Bit of Kit For Small fires. Enjoy your Wild Camping. Thanks Andrew.
Ive had A Fair Bit of Use haven't Been Out In Extreme conditions just Yet with this Particular mat as Its Been Wet not Freezing. No Issues At All When I go out Cold Camping I Always Use A silver mat Underneath Too and A Rab Accent 900. Hope This Helps Happy Camping Andrew
Thanks for this over view. Been seriously thinking of one of these due to cost and having the bit of additional insulation they give over the chinese cheapos. I have always used the Highlander reflective foam backed mat (£12ish ) with my pads as its a lot tougher than E blankets yet takes up very little room Once again thanks for the heads up. They all sound a bit like crisp packets though🙄
Nice review, thank you! I'm looking to order a pair of these but won't have the chance to try them on first. Do you find they fit true to size, or would you suggest ordering a half size up or down?
Mammut do mondopoint sizing. It's best to check the mondo /JPN size in centimetres of your most comfortable footwear and buy similar in Mammut. For me that meant ordering a UK 12.5 when I'm a 12 in some other shoes. I think they run a bit small but they're great when you get the right size
Do they do a dark green version? Great tent, but the bright colour puts me off it,this is a proper review,my banshee 200 is a good tent, but, limited head height is making me look elsewhere, thanks for the comprehensive review👍
@@andrewmorrismyvalleyandbey7972 my issue is head height, most tents are 85-90 inside height,i need 110 which is so much better,im still undecided as it looks luminous! Saying that,i do have a camo tarp for extra protection
Awesome video! I just bought one of these today and your video was super helpful! So great to see all that space in the tent and in the vestibules. Honestly, what better a tent could you get for $220 Canadian.
After 2 nights in my MSR Hubba the poles got broke. And it´s nowhere you can buy new ones, not even at MSR when I put in a complain to them. So this tent looks as good as Hubba and that one cost like 500 euro. The star river cost like 150 euro. Nice review. Thx
Enjoyed that ... I have just bought the same tent and funny enough the Pocket Rocket also ha ha ... just gathering my stuff bit by bit as I am 61 years (still pretty fit though) as I am plucking up courage for a spot of wild camping myself. I love Wales and scoping it where to try, I am a keen motorcyclist and want to be able to ride out and then be able to leave my bike somewhere safe then walk out and find a spot. I was a proper keen MTB'r for years but not rode much for a year or so, although I have rode bikes all over Europe and often camped its never been wild camping so always a bit 'safe' if you get me? Just fancy doing just what you did on this clip and being somewhere remote and then a bit of breakfast, pack up and leave no trace ... you have made my mind up and I will sort myslef out in the next 3 or 4 weeks and get out there ... cheers bud.
Just go for it you big girl 😂😋 only messing OBVIOUSLY ha ha, there's nothing as frightening as a female fox, if you don't know what they sound like 😱😱😱👍, but anyway mucker realistically we're safer in the wild ( by FAR) than in a city, hope you get out to enjoy it! God bless from eire 😁👍
Great review...the tent is VERY green, rather than a natural green which would fit into the woods/wild camping better. How did you think it blended in, or did you think it stuck out like a sore thumb? I was contemplating the blue one (15D) as its less bright, but I would have preferred a more natural green!!
Thanks Dan. To be honest I've Been Using the Vango Cairngorm 200 for A While That Colour Really Suits The Surroundings more especially if You Going To do Some Stealth Camping. But IRS Still Green I thought So I Stuck With That. Good Luck with The Buy. Cheers Andrew.
Awesome looking tent, I bought a Nature Hike Cloud Up 2 in Forest Green & it’s exactly the same pitching except the pole across the top. I originally was going to get a Burghaus but was never keen on the colour Red & I am so glad I purchased a Cloud Up 2 instead 👌 I’m just waiting for this 🔒 down to end before I can go on my first ever wild camp.
