What's your story, Kenny? Were (or are) you a professional musician? Have you sold any songs? You clearly have strong composing talent. This is so lovely; you don't need any accompaniment.
@@Allie-w1l wow , thank you. First of all , this piece is 2 tracks. I played the chords on a looper , played it back and played along with it while recording from the phone. I never sold any songs , but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if one day i did. Got a few of them and always writing. I play with a few different people here in the Tampa Bay area , sometimes for pay , sometimes not haha. Thank you so much for watching and for the nice compliments.
Thanks Dave. It came through. The eye of Hurricane Helene is right about parallel with my area right now about 80 miles west in the Gulf Of Mexico. I think it might be affecting these things
Thank you Kenny for demoing the guitar and not your effects! Just ordered the candy apple red one. Great playing! Very hard to get a demo of a decent player on an inexpensive guitar.
Thanks. I watch a lot of videos of guitar reviews and whenever the reviewer plays only with distortion , i comment that it would have been nice to have heard it clean and i sometimes get replies telling me to go look somewhere else. Hate when that happens😂. Love me some clean tone.
Sounds great, Kenny, You are a total pro on guitar. Very cool looking guitar, and it has great sound too. It looks like you took the vibrato arm off, or it didn't have one? ? You don't normally use a 'whammy bar' ever?
Whoa! That's way too kind , but thanks. Yeah iv'e really come to like this guitar a lot. The pickups are called Broadtron pickups . They have a unique sound as compared to most other humbuckers. Warm and a bit " chimey ". I did take the tremolo bar off. If it's there , i'm just going to keep using it more than i need to . It also tends to knock the guitar out of tune. Just don't like it in general.
@@kennybluet5527 Hi Kenny, Yes, those pickups sound good. Ok on taking the whammy bar off. The jaguar seems to stay in tune pretty well, but I don't use the 'tremolo' much. if I do use it, I don't press it too far, typically, but I will probably experiment with using it more aggressively sometimes. 😃
@@DreamArtScientists oh yeah . You see all these famous shredders murdering those whammy bars and they still stay in tune. Nice to have great guitar techs and custom made gear.🤣
@@kennybluet5527 yes, some guitars have those locking screw things at the guitar nut, that lock the strings down at the guitar nut.... really helps to keep the guitar in tune apparently... 🙂
@@kennybluet5527 RU-vid is stifling low-view content, brother. I had to actually select your page to see this. You'd probably hear from me more often if they weren't actively trying to make us even less relevant than we already are.
Yeah i know. Ive been warned twice by them. This one came through though. Hey aboutvyour other comment about feeling stagnant or whatever , maybe you're trying too hard. Simplify things . Just a thought. Other than that , hope you're ok.
@@kennybluet5527 No, man, it's a lot more complicated. I'm not trying too hard. The music comes out from me at will. Just the desire to share it with a world that doesn't care makes me not want to share. It has nothing to do with complexity, or simplicity. Both live inside of me without issues, and moving between them at will is easy, peasy. But it's also hard to be okay when "no one seems to care, and carry on as if nothing were there..." (quote from 'Lamb Lies Down') "And I'm hovering like a fly, waiting for the windshield on the freeway..." Oh, and I wanted to let you know that I love you, my friend. Before a time comes when I cannot.
I believe that the original is called, "The Day I Busted My Guitar In Someone's Face Because They Called Me George". LOL My take on something that Nigel Tuffnel wrote.
@@kennybluet5527 not only that, the prices of epiphone now are outrageous, I remember paying £350 for a new Korina V back when I could get a Fender Mustang for around £400. You can double that now for the epiphone and it’s sad
I got the idea for this from a video i saw , where a guy was playing a custom made Martin . It cost over $ 100, 000 dollars and sounded beyond incredible. He played this piece --- both parts together , classical style ( something i could never do ) and i liked it so much i decided to do it. I left a comment in that comment section asking if anyone knew who the composer was , and as of yet i haven't gotten a response. The fact that the overwhelming number of comments in that thread are in what appears to be Japanese letters , or characters is probably not in my favor for a response. I'm betting its from the 1800s and probably Spanish. Maybe Italian. Who knows? As always , thanks for watching.
@@kennybluet5527 That's great that you can pick up songs so quickly just by ear, and play it really well too. I have to really work at doing that kind of thing. Yes, it would be interesting to know what piece that is that you played. Sounds very nice.
I got one new here in the summer of 2024! I lucked out that they never sold out and it was the last one in the province here, they shipped it in. A great review as well and im warming up to the humbuckers. Not sure ill run acoustic 10's, as I was saying in a pervious comment here, interested in exploring various effects for kicks. I think its a keeper. I appreciate your smooth chill playing style.
I found a bullet mustang new and got it yesturday, I love the ergonomics however im not crazy over the look of, I like sunburst like you have reviewed better. But the buggest thing is theae humbuckers, not crazy on either, i am realizing that i enjoy the sound of single coil better...oh what to do...considering returning and ordering what you reviewes here.
Yes , the single coil sounds nicer , i think. However , keep in mind that single coil pickups have a hum that can be quite annoying at loud volumes , especially if you're playing in a club or bar. The neon lights and electronics in the establishment can make it worse. If you encounter that , you can put the pickup switch in the middle position and it won't hum. Thanks for watching.
@@kennybluet5527 hey thanks for the response, not sure what I'll do so I'm just giving this guitar (with humbuckers) a chance and seeing what I can get out of it playing it clean...it wasn't bad actually in the middle pick up position and I like as much bottom end as possible. I like the option of exploring distortion etc at times so...Thanks have a good weekend.
Thanks. I'm 74 and want to start playing again. I saw one of these in Torino red at my local guitar shop and they have it priced atv$159.00. After seeing your review, I think I'll buy it. Thanks again
Im pretty sure they were discontinued. However there are lots of used out there. Keep in mind that guitars this inexpensive can vary in quality and consistency . One might be better made than another. Although they no longet produce these , they have come out with a Squier Sonic Mustang , with a variety of colors and 2 different pikup types. I have one and i like it a lot. If you can , go to an actual store and play one. Good luck. Thamks for watching.
Haha. Good eye ! Yes. I took the maple off of this and swapped it with the laurel one from my humbucker Mustang. I agree it looks better , although i may change them back. Thanks for watching.
You're welcome and thanks for watching. I might point out that about 2 months after i got it this guitar , the bridge pickup stopped working properly. Cuts in and out. Epiphone has been known to have that problem. I've had about 20 Epis over the last 10 years , and this is the 3rd or 4th one thats done it.
@@kennybluet5527 ok thanks I’ll keep that in mind. I’ll probably save up for some new p-90s after I buy it. That way I’ll be able to fix it before the problem starts
Thanks Dave. Its a Gretsch 2657T . Awesome guitar but the original tuners were not very good. I put Gibson vintage tuners on . Big improvement. There are quite a few of these , in various colors for sale at Sweetwater and Musicians Friemd.
@@kennybluet5527 I have the 2655 in dark green the only thing I changed was I put the chrome metal Gretsch knobs with a g on them on the guitar it looks pretty Sharp . I bought them on Amazon but they are from Gretsch they were not very expensive
@anthonyclegg1511 in general , yes. Squier is the low end brand of Fender. Fenders are better than Squier because they use better materials and better workmanship. This mustang here is the cheapest that Squier makes. Squier also makes Mustangs in higher price range that you might want to check out.
Haha. It's a stealth headstock. I blacked it in with a Sharpie to match the body , somewhat. It's a Squier Sonic Mustang with single coil pickups . I did a review of it on my channel if you'd like to check it out. Very nice for the price. Thanks for watching
