I had the RCMP called on me for detecting in a playground late in the evening. They got a call for someone with a red light, digging holes 😂. They were just about as confused as the caller but left me alone. Not too many people metal detecting in that town.

That lady said on the phone "its odd" and proceeded to condescend him about not understanding why he is doing it and that there are no treasures....why does anyome fing care! I received the same type of answer months back when I asked a neighbor if I could detect on his property because he was removing all the trees and about to rip up the land. He said No with some bogus excuse, those same people that put you down because they dont understand why you do it dont realize that fortune does catch up with those who are dedicated. 2 months after that refusal I found a nearby forgotten park and found a 14k gold chain weighing over 12 grams, 3 Silver Rings, Silver Mercs, Barber Dimes, Silver Rosie's and various jewelry. To this day its still my favorite Park!

Hiya Joe! Such a bizarre find that tooth pendant! Not super unusual for us to find teeth crowns and the like on the beach (as morbid as it sounds... cremation remains) but a tooth in the park?!?! 😲 Curious... why aren't you using your smaller coil on the trashy parks? Seems to be ideal for better target separation, especially when you aren't going for deep targets.... love my M8 or M9 for exactly that scenario. 🙂

Never found a metal crown or filling, have found one cremation tag that I mistook for a dog tag until I got home! I had so much ground I wanted to cover on that park I decided to stick with the 11 inch coil, I find that in most areas it's still quite easy to separate targets with the standard coil. I use the small one when I'm in really uneven ground with lots of sharp rocks, like the seawall or gravely shorelines around here.

Sometimes the ground is not too bad; in the summer it dries quite hard and in the fall it's usually very muddy, there's a small seasonal window where it's ok haha. Shame the belt buckle was so corroded, it had been there for a bit but the silver ring made it all worthwhile. Thanks for watching!

City/Park Property is PUBLIC PROPERTY, paid for by PUBLIC taxes....Therefore owned by the PUBLIC....😮🤯
@ScoopyJoe
@ScoopyJoe Месяц назад
Normally yes, unfortunately this park is in a bit of a grey zone. It's owned by a property development company and was put in place as part of a deal they had with the city. So while the city is responsible for it existing, it technically belongs to the developer. I've complained about this park's policies directly to the city before (they have a mechanized gate that locks the entire park down at 10pm for instance), but the city told me they can't do anything because it's not technically one of their parks.

Awesome hunt Joe... nice variety of finds too! Just out of curiosity... how often do you bump into other detectorist? Seems more rare for you... of course I'm usually on an Orange County (California) beach but it's rare I go a day without seeing someone else out detecting. On the most popular days (summer days after a holiday for instance) it's not uncommon for me to see 10-12 guys out! Crazy! 🙂
@ScoopyJoe
@ScoopyJoe Месяц назад
Thank you! It's actually pretty rare for me to bump into another detectorist around here. At the beaches I might occasionally see someone off in the distance but they usually don't stick around as long as I'm out for haha. The largest number of detectorists I've ever seen in one place myself has been after our summer beach fireworks nights - those nights I usually see several pros out for hours and the odd beginner who shows up for a few minutes and then leaves. Not that many detectorists out here in BC! There is a club that's active in my area but I don't see the members around much, I'm not a member myself.

That silver ring you found has an odd shape just like the silver ring i found yesterday, i think mine may supposed to be a wave ring but im not 100% sure, mine has a stylized W hallmarknand STER hallmark, rang up a 92 on the deus in 31khz, which makes sense
@ScoopyJoe
@ScoopyJoe 2 месяца назад
Yeah I'm guessing it's slightly less pure than real 925, being unverified Mexican silver, that would explain the slightly jumpy penny numbers. The unicorn horn on this ring was worn down so sharp that it actually stabbed me while I was trying to clean it haha.

I'm a big fan of R Dogg but we're not related. I don't know when that ring might have been lost, but I suspect it's been buried for a while. That area had a very dense and settled layer of black sand just below the surface with lots of old clad that had clearly been in the sand for a long time.
