Nah in like 20 days when school starts imma have to play French horn for band luckily it’s more popular like 2-3 people play it instead of like 1 however I’m one of them
How do you sound so goood!!!! Practice probably lol, but I wish I had your sound!!! Probably too much to ask for a high school horn player though. A kid can dream though…
Now, score publishing tools is popular. So the players might be provided their sheet for their instrument key. I don't think tranposition will be excisted anymore. But thank you Scott, this video teaches me a lot. It's knowledge of music.
As a teenage violinist(2nd), I played this many years ago. Our written instructions for the first part when we finally played, were to pizzicato "a la guitar" - hand written from the London orchestra they hired the music from. Somewhat boring to practice from my desk, but magnificent in performance. I've never lost that buzz.
I got to play this a couple months ago and our conductor asked horns 1 and 2 to double the woodwinds so it could really be heard. It was fun. I was playing seconf and first horn had played too much by then so it was all me!
Ladies and gentlemen, as you can see here, this is why the Horn is the hardest brass instrument to play. It's a Contra-Alto (bass) instrument that is used mostly for Alto & Soprano pitches. He played all notes open fingering. Basically the higher up you go the closer the harmonics get together. There's semi tones right next to each other up high at the top. Try that with an F Bass Tuba or F Bass Trombone. Same fundamental pitch and fingerings btw 😂😂😂😂😂
Coming to this video from 2024 where the same book was picked for TMEA on F Horn, this is way harder than what was picked this year. For reference, this is comparable to CoV for Cornet whilst the etudes this year are easy. They are 33, 3, and 9 which may look hard for 9th graders coming in for their first All-State etudes but for more experienced members of all the TMEA districts, they can look really easy. For me the easiest one is number 3 because of the transition from eights to triplets to sixteenths. Very nice playing on all etudes from this book, you are overall just an amazing player.
I remember listening to that part and thinking that was the horn part of dreams, only to find that the horns don’t even have it. I was so unbelievably disappointed
Hey, Ive been watching your videos I think for 1 or 2 years now and I have a quick question that I would love to hear! Can you do Tchaikovsky 5 horn solo or Tchaikovsky 5 finale at letter AA and play like all brass part from that to the cut time like a brass choir? i would’ve done it myself since I have all of the main brass instruments but my horn broke recently so I would love to here if you could play it so I could here how it would sound especially from you!
