10,000,000sq/km of land. Thousands of freshwater lakes that could support cities in their watersheds. Nations have gone to war for less. We have it all. And we don't use it. Build a road north of Barrie, and pick your plot. Lake Huron, the entire drive out to Thunder Bay is an open track of nothing. Put a city there. The land is crown land (obviously don't build on native land, that opens a whole can of worms nobody wants). We have the space, we don't have to be paying $500,000 for a small parcel of land. And we don't have to build over farmland if we build north. And we can build energy efficient homes that match the climate we live in. Industry will follow.. specially if we want to expand mining for the electric future.
The BYD Seagull is $10k USD. It's what makes sense and people would buy it in volume. But what NA auto makers want to sell you is a three ton behemoth SUV for $80k masquerading as "green".
So I'm going to pay 3x to subsidize unionized autoworkers. How about making a better product to compete instead of knee-capping competition? Protectionism is not going to make our auto industry better or more competitive?
Cumulative inflation from 2020 to 2024 is 70%. The damage has been permanently done, trying to get inflation increases to 2% is not going to help anyone. Good luck suckers LOL!
Not a lot of delinquencies??? He is really manipulating and putting a spin on this. About one out of every five home loans at three big Canadian banks are now negatively amortizing. That means years get added to the payment term of the original loan because monthly payments are no longer covering anything but the interest.
I was speaking with someone this week who just got laid off from Lowes… no one is renovating, no one is putting their house up for sale, the dominos have started…
"Cheap regions" are still way more expensive than cheap regions in the us with a way lower median salary. You can't really escape it within the country.
This lady is 100% wrong. Immigrants aren't to blame for prices staying elevated. It's Canadian house-lust and homeowners holding out for the next "hot market" to deliver them their lottery ticket of a home-sale. Most of the immigrants to Canada are broke, and live with like 8-12 people in one basement suite, so the household formation figures are all out of wack. Don't be surprised when the mortgage renewal tsunami smacks into Canada's economy later this year /next year and prices take a huge nose-dive.
Why not; Auto industry can then charge higher price in Canada with the help from Tariff; Canadian will have no choice from buying expensive North American EV vehicles.. This of cause wouldn't help EV Vehicles export; but we can cover that cause with the carbon tax; and soon like Los Angela; we tax Ev Vehicle use by miles as an excuse to fix the road; in Canada we can charge Ev Vehicle use by Km, which is event more $ for the Gov't. Wonder why Canadian are leaving Canada??????
HSBC was THE go to Money Laundering Bank for all the major drug cartels, they worked hand in hand together, but now TD has seen how much money there is to be made and they decided to get in on the action. Banksters, CRIMINALS in SUITS with business degrees.

Small businesses don't yet have access to big supercomputational services like shoplifter detection in real time, or robot security systems: Robots everywhere.
Rate cut would be a mistake. It might save some people with mortgages underwater and or juice some stock portfolios, but then it will also cause inflation to rise again as houses/rent inflate higher and dollar price differential causes purchasing power to drop.
