The best in Fifties & Sixties music. The music of, and interviews with, the artists with whom I have worked, written about, programmed in radio shows and featured in my novel 'Nights of the Turntable".
Alma Cogan had a great voice but she didn't sing great songs... Too much of a Beatles influence for my taste. I'm not keen on the Beatles either for that matter... I just wished Alma had sung some more mature adult songs instead of the drivel she churned out... She was at one time one of UK's richest female singers, beautiful, glamorous & those fabulous frocks she used to wear .... ...
DSB's version is a good one, and recorded after Vikki's! Shirley is one of my all-time Top 10 favourite female artists, but I nevertheless regard Vikki as having the edge with her performance.
Just back from Blackpool, where I was saddened to hear about her passing, remember seeing her on Thingymajig, when I was a kid with Jack Milroy and Dave Clarke jnr I think. Dad
Sorry Kyle, I don't know any links to a 2008 S4C special. There are several RU-vid links to S4C appearances that same year, but have not seen anything suggesting an entire show.
How Many Tears Have Fallen Tears so many have fallen Through the years for the Greatest Nation ever Tears for life liberty the pursuit of happiness For a free world Tears for the sons and daughters that never returned home Warrior soldiers all Tears wiped from the cheeks of so many wives Shed by the children with only faint memories Tears behind the mother's veil On father's handkerchief Tears at the base of the white stone That wet the flowers and flags Tears at the sound of taps played in the distance For the memories of buddies Tears at the sight and sound of dog tags boots Empty Tears when the aircraft flyover Stars shining brightly Tears as the ships sail Anchors aweigh Tears for those that patrol Guard the dark nights alone Tears at roll call With no reply to a name called How many tears have fallen Bless Them All Barry 5/30/2021
Special thanks for upload with wonderful photo of singer herself. This song is no doubt right Bond song which includes essence of James Bond, endless solitude , dynamic dark passion and proper high society feeling only John Barry can explain as music.
Haven't heard this one in a while. Though the story is known that Nancy struggled with the song used in the film, it is a much better orchestrated and lyrically pleasing compared to this one. There's no disputing Julie has a better range and it might have been interesting to hear her version of the film's song.
Thank you for this. Andee Silver is my cousin. My Aunty Rita. The above personal history is correct. Long lost history, re-discovered. You made my day.
