Mary Alcantara seems like a really cool and kind person, but after spending over a decade in the US, I found some of her reactions almost comically stereotypical. Her response to Pogátsa's half an hour presentation about structural issues was that "guess I'm the bad guy", even though he talked about the very opposite of individual responsibility. She praised a company for being "inspirational" even though that attitude is the very reason why people accept and even support unfairness. She's confident and opinionated about women's issues, but never heard the term "pink collar", yet she collects the only round of applause for a phrase that added absolutely nothing to the discussion. These moments were great representations of some key issues of contemporary discussions in the US, and considering the cultural power of that country, it's very alarming. Of course, it's not her fault, again, she seems pretty cool.
