Excellent. A band of movie lovers and historical enthusiasts have more guts than Hollywood executives that base their entire careers on remaking and rebooting films from the past.
I remember watching this in high school. This is what this new generation needs to watch. That way theyll know what can happen. Instead of thinking the whole world are our friends. Ive always been a believer that our firces should ALWAYS be armed and ready on a seconds notice.
My Dad flew a navy wildcat and got his order to deploy to the south pacific and on that day they dropped THE bomb and he was spared any combat duty. He would joke that they surrendered because they heard HE was coming!
Germany wanted to audit their gold bullion (300+ tons) in 2008 They were told no so they said we want all of our gold. The US said it will take 7 years. As of 2024 the US has only coughed up 90 tons. Parker, Tony, Fred and Rick have been mining as much as they can though..
We went from Cold War paranoia at it's height during the early to mid 1980s to complete relief after the collapse of Communism in Eastern Europe in the late 80s to early 90s. Now we're back at square one again with the idiot leaders and wanna-bes (tRump) in power. Ukraine could very well be the trigger. One miscommunication or misinterpretation and things could escalate very quickly. Add to that the fact that the US and Russia are barely communicating anymore...
Patton knew the military better than anyone. He was promoted from Colonel to General when the US started preparing for war at age 55. This was a time when most officers 55 or older were thanked for their service and put in retirement. I once asked a retired colonel who was 70 years old if the army called him back, would he go. He said yes, but they would be taking from the bottom of the barrell. War is a young man's game." In the beginning of the war he did a first class job taking Casablanca. So much so, that he was put in charge the North Africa Campaign. He was getting the headlines as well all the jealousy from all other generals. As a general, no one could beat him. In his career he only lost one battle. He was relieved of command during the Italian Campaign. When that happened the momentum of the Italian campaign was lost and was never regained. It cost a great deal of American casualties because of him being relieved.
Why was there no paper wrapping on the bullet or why was the bullet not integrated into the cartridge that it could be inserted with the paper like the brits did it. BVetter for the gun and faster.
“Based of the evidence presented in the trial”… and the evidence presented was very poor. Ten years later, evidence was made available that would have overturned this verdict. As of this date, there are some documents that have STILL not been declassified. The defence counsel was correct in stating that the “truth is locked in a closet”. In 1986, it STILL WAS.
My wife graduated from Santo Tomas University in the Philippines. I was excited to buy her a handful of keyrings, refrigerator magnets, bottle openers, celebrating the 400th anniversary of the first graduating class in 1611. That's how far behind England was - Spain had conquered all of Central and South America and explored much of North America, at least as far as Kansas, but the Little Ice Age was making more southerly lands more inviting. Spain had already conquered the Philippines, with the aid of many Nahuatl people (so many in fact the native language of the Philippines became peppered with Nahuatl words). The Spanish had built lighthouses, churches and missions throughout the neighboring islands and built an impressive European-style city surrounding their fortress in Maynila (Manila). They had established the Manila-Acapulco trade, greatly enriching Catholic Europe and funding the new St. Peter's Basilica. They had established universities, one of which, Santo Tomas University, graduated their first class in 1611. Jamestown was four years old. The majority of the colonists that had first arrived were already dead.
When the father called the general and told his wife, they found her and she's alive it made me happy to b an American. God Bless all our military men and woman, especially those who paid the ultimate sacrifice
The film doesn't show this, but it has been proven that Custer took his own life at the battle. This was determined by the 7th Cavalry's doctor, Dr. Porter who rode with Reno. Porter mentioned in a letter that he inspected Custer's body the day after the battle and discovered two bullet wounds. One to the chest and a bullet wound to the skull. The doctor removed the bullet from the back of Custer's skull and determined that it was from Custer's Colt's 41 caliber revolver. The 41 caliber revolver was a new model being introduced by Colt and the manufacturer had given 3 of them to General Terry before the expedition began. Terry, in turn, gave one of these revolvers to Custer, another to Dr. Porter, while Terry kept the third. Porter compared the bullet to his own gun and found they were a match.
The man writing down Custer's order is his aide William Cooke, a Canadian. In total 18 Canadians rode with the 7th Cavalry at the Little Big Horn and 8 died there.
Poor intel and command from the rear. Westmoreland should have been fired. McNamara told LBJ they couldn't win in VN, only escalate at a higher level of violence. Instead of getting out they convinced Johnson to escalate (at a cost of over 3,000 American deaths a month in '68). Like he was told, we would lose or at best stalemate.
who tf watched this sh in the day? 1980? An entire orchestra all the time? BOomers, that's who. And the "greatest" this entire presentation is part of the psychopathy of US culture. The year Reagan was voted in. Make way for the Sandinistas! Let's GO
