If I were the coach of the near team, #7 would be getting his ### chewed out. Hey outside blockers, if you want to be a middle blocker, talk to your coach. Your job is to block the outside. How do you accomplish that when you are egotistically trying to block a setter dump? How did that work out for you? As a former setter, I would have a field day with outside blockers who wanted to stay in the middle. My OHs would bounce line on you all day.

Long Beach actually swept Alberta twice in their non conference meetings this year in January. Pepperdine actually beat Alberta in 5 sets too. Now granted Alberta made a change to their middle rotation and Libero after. Number 6 on Alberta became the starting Libero and Alberta's passing, serve receive, and defense in general became a whole lot better. If this current Alberta team faced against Long Beach again they would have a way better chance of winning. But no college team, American or Canadian, is beating 2021-2022 TWU lol, or the 2019-2020 TWU team.
@@RoninLeeVBall agree on almost all of this. U of A beat TWU in the final in 2021-22 though. TWU was the better team though that year for sure. The Long Beach team that won in 2019 is probably the strongest college team I’ve ever seen, Canadian or American.
I appreciate the response, the 2021 team is the one I remember watching. I kind of just imagined that they would've remained the same skill level. @@RoninLeeVBall
Man TWU always gets outmatched by Alberta. But this Alberta team is really strong with multiple Canada National players. But man Alberta fans were being mean to Kyden Dmitruk😭😭 every player just has those bad days.
does anyone else watch Canadian college volleyball, then watch American college volleyball, and wonder why canada doesn't destroy the US in international play? Canada's youth system just seems to be better.
It’s not though. The top teams are always comparable on the mens side. There’s more depth though with youth and college teams in the states. When you have a population that’s 10x the size you’re going to have a lot more talent to choose from.
5 years ago trinity western was definitely the best team In North America. Now, I don’t think any Canadian team is beating the best ncaa teams. I also think the USA national team plays better together than Canada but for our population Canada is quite strong
@@davidfernandes8094Yeah, the USA men’s team appears more cohesive. I wonder if they are able to play them more, arrange practices together more or what that is about. I’d imagine the players on USA and Canada all play most of their volleyball on their pro teams? Canada’s youth development is pretty good, all things considered. Another part of the USA’s higher population and the relative closeness of their big cities is that it’s easier to access tournaments against competitive teams. If you are a team in Saskatchewan, you could travel to Edmonton/calgary, Winnipeg. But that’s not much. In the USA, west coast and east coast teams can access way more tournaments and more competition, due to more population, etc.
@@davidfernandes8094this may be a reason for southern Ontario, souther QC and parts of BC having traditionally strong teams, more access to competition, both within their near vicinity (1 hour drive) and like a 5-6 hour drive.
@@davidfernandes8094I think it depends on the year honestly. US college ball is definitely getting better though. Lots of times it also depends which ball they’re playing with. When Canadian teams go down to the States around Christmas to play they usually don’t do as well with the Molten. When American teams come up to play in Canada the Canadian teams typically do better with the Mikasa.
i dont under stand why inter national games don't use these cramer angles. the regular camera angles make the game look so boring even with high level players.
I completely agree. This angle around the height of the top of the net really shows the speed of the game. They use it for replay and nothing else. Tennis has figured this out, volleyball hasn’t.
@@AutisticVaxtard unfortunately I trust the hundreds of coaches that have come to that conclusion over some random guy with a youTube comment. sure the serve can get picked up but you're limiting the offense as much as possible, making it easier for blockers to get doubles or even a triple up.
Ya, they're switch blocking sometimes just to get a better block matchup on the opponents left side. Especially if the other team is lower percentage on C-ball.
Nothing fancy at all. I think this was just with a canon video camera and not on a very high setting so I can record longer since I was recording for 3 teams. Sometimes I just use an iPhone
he seems really young compared to his team. a lot of balls at that level should have been played. their serves are not aggresive and seemed too passive for this stage. Still an amazing team. the setter is icy too
Everyone dunking on the OH is too harsh. The ball is 100% going into the plane, so if the setter is too slow or low the OH just needs to touch it to get the call against the setter. He misjudged the ball, but maybe only by an inch.
for you young middle blockers out there. a) the big fella in maroon was watching the ball, if you know their middle is that strong and its a good pass, watch the hitter you are responsible for, it will prevent you being late b) i always team my middles as they elevate to bring their arms up from the side and pretend you are an eagle with a massive wingspand and you "cup" around the opposing middle. 51 balls are likely to be hit to either side of you and if you go straight up and down you're leaving the primary attacking location uncovered. all in all, great hit! nice to see a young team celebrating an in competition hit like this.
