I lost my little brother 5 months ago to an epileptic seizure in his sleep. His name was Jayden and his handle has always been blue Jay . In the poem I wrote for his funeral I referred to him as a blue Jay. I used to listen to a lot of folk punk music with him. This song is so close to my heart and explains the grief so well.

Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of her. I should have given it my all for her to be clean or have her go to rehab that night. I shouldn't have never left her side that night. I let her convince me that she will be fine. I know it's not my fault but I blame myself for her overdose and her death. It was fentanyl that took her away from me. I watched her go on this roller coster since high school as she would be clean and relapse. However, the instance I was told of her death was the moment I knew I let her down and I didn't fight for her. For that mistake, I lost her as I let her convince me she will be fine. I am so sorry Hope, I failed you I never let someone down as I did with you. I will live with that for the rest of my life.

I revisit these recordings pretty regularly, and whenever I do I'm blown away by the passage of time. Hard to imagine it's been almost a decade at this point. Nobody's even come close to filling the void Erik left in all that time - especially since Pat retired around the same time Erik left us. The world keeps turning no matter what we do.
