Hi, I'm Andy I love plants and you can usually find me hanging out in my potting shed, I love being creative with plants and watching them grow. If you're a houseplant addict too I'd love to share my hobby with you.
I bought a tiny one that came in a container of 8 succulents at Lowe’s 1.5 yrs ago but it has not grown at all in that amount of time. But it’s still healthy looking. It just looks exactly the same. I fertilize it every so often but zero growth. What am i doing wrong?!? I want it to get bushier and grow. I would love to be able to cut a piece off to propagate but there’s no way I can cut a piece off at the size it is now. I’d have little to no plant left. Help.
Thank you for the great video, it was extremely helpful and I loved the music. Question: when you ate ready to up pot the jasmine do you separate the 4 clippings or replant them together as one plant?
If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it. My plant is only a few months old, but most of the old leaves died off. It still has recently sent up a couple of blooms, the problem is the new leaves. They are not green! They are a deep reddish color. Does anyone know what is causing that?
No, I haven't but I've had many people mention that it's a lot easier with this plant in pon so I think I will give it a go and see how it goes, I'll make a video about it if you think it might be helpful. Andy
Hello again. In reference to previous comments and questions I have asked you: if you recall, my 4 yo achmea that has reared 11 pups over 3 years is nearing its end. The current # 11 pup still remains with her but son to be separated. My question concerns the other pups. A few a struggling. A few have their own pups ! My instinct as a plant guy tells me they shoukd be repotted a size up to 6" pots. They have never been repotted after their initial separation from the mother, and I believe maybe they should have especially bc a few are skinny, with very little 'cup' development or none at all. I'd be happy to forward pics if it'll help. I need a bit of guidance here even though I believe myself to be quite experienced and knowledgeable concerning houseplants, gardening and bonsai. But we all require assistance now and then. Let me know. I appreciate any help you can offer. Thank you. Tom.
Please do send over some photos to @houseplanthacks on instagram and I'll be interested to take a look, if they are growing strongly then they should be fine, being an eppiphyte they don't need as much root space as normal houseplants.
A clear, direct and lovely tutorial, much appreciated. In my opinion, music is a delightful aspect of casual daily life, as is gardening, breathing and love.... Growing smiles
Have the white rose ever grown out for you? I had one of these for over ten years, and suddenly a white rose popped out, like 7 years after i got it, once a year. But the new ones i have does not give any white rose. Am i wrong, but the beautiful purple color is actually poisoned if am not mistaken, to protect it fro certain bugs when it's living in the wild. But it's beautiful if you get to survive like several years. You can just cut it off in the lower root if it gets to thin and weak and falling. The old one i had looked like an tree on the tribe, and the tribe stood by it self also, i miss that, it was very stately, was over 60-70cm high and it doesn't needed any pin to support it from falling. But the white rose was an added experience.
My flamingo plant is growing a lot, and getting very tall. It has nine blooming flower-petals, and looks healthy. The problem is that its getting to tall and heavy, and cant stand up without support. If i remove the support it will tip over and break. How to fix it? Repotting. But the heavy parts are so far up, så I surely can't bury half the plant?
I love the string of pearls ❤ It's such a unique plant and looks stunning anywhere. It was tough to learn the growth habits of this guy but with enough practice and patience I've been able to keep mine healthy and thriving, finally lol. They can be so picky especially in my climate here in florida
The flowers of this plant died :( I water it every week! And they are not in the full sun spot. Will the flowers grow back? I should try to do the mist.
It’s more about the roots getting pot bound, this can happen within 1-2 years, keep an eye out for roots growing out the bottom of the pot then change the soil and the pot at this time. The link for the liquid gold leaf is now in the description. Thanks for the reminder. Andy
I got one for $9.99 cdn from a store called Canadian Tire. It has a pup growing off, the both had no water, but dry soil. Gave them a drink in the pitchers. How do I tell if it’s flowered or not?
No! I didn't kill the two I've tried. They committed suicide, poor things. I believe it was trauma from where they were Thank you! You made me think to Try it again.
Am not sure if I have this plant or it’s a hosta . It has a similar pattern but more darker . Am having trouble with a little crispy leaf but little brown spots under the leaves , is this due to overwatering? I was watering every other day but now 1-2 a week . Got it in a shaded window but open the window on it daily
I was looking for some information about jasminum polyanthum, i planted one in my garden 4 years ago (south west of France) and this year i have currently a second flowering, i love it, it's not just few flowers it's really a second flowering, even more than the first one. Weather was very wet this springtime and not very warm. Have you heard about another flowering on this jasminum ? Can't find any information about it...
I have had one for 3 years. Love this query dude. Mine is 60 cm high and great excitement, it has two seed pods! Home is Maryborough Queensland Australia
Hy. Is it ok indoor this tree? Coz I have kept inside coz outside very hot so plant it's becaming dry. So inside it's growing but no flowers. So any thing I have to do please
I got one last May, it was in a pot with 4 other plants. I removed them all and placed them separately. I didn’t even know what it was until I researched! I LOVE it! At first I did overlook her, as I didn’t know! She survived, and I now want to try to propagate, because I do not want to lose her! I think it’s my favorite tradescantia!
I am trying to find out the name of a plant I bought at a Walmart Garden center that apparently had the wrong name labeled on it. It has an UPRIGHT growth of dark purple and green leaves. They are much darker than this plant and they don't grow the same. Mine are much more vertical. They are dark green on the top, dark purple on the bottom, oval shaped leaves and have tiny star shaped flowers that grow out from where the leaves join together.
