Welcome to Photofinish Garage. Here I show various Diys on several makes and models. I also try and record when i am attempting something new and challenging.
@orlandojuarez11 no other symptoms. I had bought the truck used and this needed to be done. I thought I had the torque converter shudder and was going to change the fluid then notice how low it was and saw the trans leaking from Bulkhead connector and the output seal. Turns out I didn't have any shudder and had worn out spark plugs But if your fluid is low then your trans is leaking and should be repaired.
Had the exact same car in high school and we ran it to the ground. 9 yrs later we just bought the exact same 1995 lx in the blue . Had to drive it 5 hours home and the radiator was also cracked ( they tightened the top radiator support too tight ) but we got her plugged up enough to make it home. Got it for under $800 from a cute old couple with 210k miles. Gotta have the 5 speed though!
Appreciate the thanks! No i have no done that repair yet since mine were still good. But it would make sense to do it all while you have the driveshaft out if you have the time and tools.
Hello! I have a question about changing the display clock? I cant seem to change mine. Not the clock on the big navigation screen, but the one on the dash board. Do you know how to do that or can you post a video about that?
Fantastic video man, you're giving me the motivation to do this myself. I'm getting ready to hand over our 2010 MDX to my new to driving teenage daughter. While I'm at this, do you think it would be a good idea to send my fuel injectors in for cleaning (I've used MotorWest in the past before, and they're great)? Also thinking of replacing the spark plugs and possibly the coils themselves as just a preventative maintenance thing.
@SanFranTransplant thank you! I would for sure do the spark plugs. You can do the coils if you want but if they aren't failing, I would save the money. If money isnt a concern go ahead and replace them since they have to come off for the valve cover anyway! As far as the injectors you can find a good injector cleaner to add to fuel such as Lucas or Amsoil. Or take them off individually and clean them yourself. But these vehicles run great! Good luck to your daughter and be safe out there
my wife car is 2007 focus there great running cars ! other then the vibrations there known for with the upper engine motor mount. Just did valve cover gasket and intake runner hose, on it at 134.000 . the 2004 and up always had trouble with ticking from intake flaps were plastic but its harm less ! Great job on video my friend !!
Hello, greta video! Im haveing an issue where I put two cans of free-on and the compressor would turn on and off. Now that I am doing your trick the compressor stays on but the gauge says i have no free-on in the system. Where did all the free-on go?
Hi. Well you could have a leak which is why the system is low to begin with. But also you cant truly charge the system unless the compressor is fully engaged and turning. You cant charge it if the compressor is intermittent. I would also get the compressor running then check how much you have in there to see if it's under charged
BRRRRROOOOO THAT YOU SO MUCH I’ve watch multiple I mean multiple videos of this same removal and no one shows or explains how difficult it is to take that last connector off , everyone skips it . I like how you paused and came back to it and didn’t leave us hanging …. I highly appreciate it !! Thank you
It was pretty reliable. Like all cars has its quirks and needs maintenance but was easy to work on. We sold our back when gas went up to over $4 a gallon. Panicked and miss the hell out of this vehicle. That's the only con is its bad on gas low on tech and underpowered. But can be driven anywhere and comfy.
Funny u said hand tight bc mine were exactly the same way and had oil over the exhaust manifolds like yours. Wonder how someone thought hand tight on valve gaskets were a good idea...
I am not sure if you are aware what you have gotten yours into brother. What was the outcome? You ended up paying $500 for flange? I got 03 525i Manual. And my drive shaft is a mess. And more I attemt to figure out what I can do without buying new shaft.....the more I'm thinking that I'm buying new shaf from bmw
What up man. I don't know what you mean. I paid 65 bucks for the differntial and made a template and drilled additional holes into the flange to mount with my current smaller 528i driveshaft. I think I have a video showing that. The car drives perfect and smooth.
Hell no. Haha the lt side went out on my and I have to replace again. Was too cheap to pay more than the $20. I'm going to look into something alottle better this time around
@@photofinishgarage damn, that sucks, I need to do mine. I just put the stars in the roof and rebuilt my sunroof. I’m doing an all black interior swap but I need to fix this window but I don’t know which regulator to buy. If it was like the e46 I wouldn’t care if it went out, but since u have to take the window out I don’t want to have to redo it😂
Just watched your swap vlogs. I was curious on doing the manual swap. Do you recall which getrag you got it? I have a 525i and i think they are the same for the 528i.
NEVER spray brake clean on seals or gaskets .......unless you are going to remove said seal OR gasket and replace it . Brake clean immediately dries out the seal material . Spray it on a rubber screw driver handle and see the difference of the before and after when you clean rubber handles. It softens the handle in 10 seconds of brake clean sitting on it . Best to do your area clean up first before disassembly of any job . That way you don't compromise the new parts with pressure washing , or with the use of chemicals / cleaners . Otherwise ... good video for the DIY'er . Side note .... while you have the rear driveshaft off , that is the time to get your hands on 100 % pure PTFE special grease . You should clean the slip yoke splines at the hanger bearing really well , as that is a problem area for the cause of a clunk in the rear when moving off from a full stop . Then apply a bunch of 100 % pure PTFE special grease to the splines and the slip yoke . Note : Regular bearing grease is not good enough to last . PTFE grease is super slippery . Hope that helps . .
Sounds really good now that it is worn in. I'll Likely be removing the butterfly resonator. And maybe adding headers in a year or two when emissions testing is no longer required for the car
