I don’t go to Bowdoin, but I still really enjoyed your video. I go to Umaine about 2 hours north of Brunswick. It’s nice to see fellow people trying to enjoy the beautiful state of Maine.
For the summer after freshman year, is it likely I could secure an envs internship? When is the best time to start thinking and planning that during the school year?
Yes it is! I'd start thinking around November/December, as applications are usually due January/February. You'll need some time to get rec letters, write personal statements, fix your resume etc. CXD is super helpful with all of this, and professors/students in the envs department are also a good resource
Very nice watching your videos I have just graduated with a master in Geo-information science and earth observation. I am looking forward in landing a job.
bro i can’t stress enough how cool of a short film concept this is man the editing is sick as well!! i just subscribed , You inspired me legitimately so much today 🙏 i recently made the decision to go into geography / GIS for my major and i saw ur video on the day of a life as a GIS intern, then i also saw that u create short films, vlogs and music !! idk why i had this weird thought in my head that settling on a certain major would mean giving up my artistic pursuits and choose one “path” for myself, so it is really inspiring to me to see you doing it all !! Thanks man :)
You can during your first-year only if you request special accommodations. During your sophomore-senior year you can regardless, but it depends on where you live though.
Hii as someone from class of 2028, could u pls drop down the bio internships that you mentioned in the video? im so excited to research them but im not sure where to start hahah
For sure!! - Bowdoin's biology department website has some really good info to start with. You can build relationships with faculty and get to stay in Maine over the summer if that's more of your vibe - www.bowdoin.edu/biology/student-research/summer-research-fellowships.html - This website is super useful for searching through REUs (research experience for undergrads). You can filter by subject or geography, and this is what I used to find my internship for my first year summer. Def a top resource for research internships - www.pathwaystoscience.org/programs.aspx?descriptorhub=SummerResearch_Summer%20Research%20Opportunity - Gotta give a shout out to the program I did the summer after my first year, they match you with a research or tech company in Maine (I got placed with the GMRI REU program and did some acoustic fisheries ecology research on blue mussels) - www.msgc.org/students/internships/undergraduate/ - 2024 Maine Industry Program Announcement gmri.org/projects/research-experience-undergraduates/ The rest are just some other internships that I came across in my search, I believe all of them can be found in the pathways to science website www.bowdoin.edu/environmental-studies/fellowships-and-opportunities/index.html www.bigelow.org/education/reu/ www.whoi.edu/what-we-do/educate/undergraduate-programs/ harvardforest.fas.harvard.edu/other-tags/reu uwconservationscholars.org/program/ www.omprakash.org/global/ipbio-brazil Hope this helps! Lmk if you have any other questions. See you in the fall!!
I was just an intern so I worked 8 hours a day for 10 weeks in the summer, M-F. I only got to telework for a few days days throughout the summer and I got all holidays off (working for the state government in the US)
I am a GIS coordinator from Sweden 🇸🇪 and I was searching for how GIS in the US describe their work and I came across your vlog. Very interesting and cool editing with high quality video. I wish I could see more of this. Good luck with your career!
@@AdeAro bro we need a detailed video on how we can start choosing the best university for a diploma in GIS ? I'm a graduate student in geography that's why I need to know
Hi! I am going to apply to university soon and the faculty of geography in this university has a cartography program. I've heard that you can become a GIS Analyst through this program and I was wondering what exactly does it mean. I googled it and it looks interesting but I don't understand the depth of this job. If you could give me some more info, I would gladly appreciate!
