Good morning pretty Rosa ♥I really do not meal plan to be honest and I am Caucasian. My semi way of cooking is once a month I got to the local food pantry and every other month I go to the mobile pantry. I make a list of what we got and come up with ideas of dinners I can make using these ingredients. I watch the store ads and will shop around the ads and what extra I will need to create a meal. This help me save a lot of money! As for recipes I get from watching RU-vid videos or in my email I look at the ingredients and can usually tell if my hubby and I will enjoy that recipe lol. Luckily we eat a wide assortment of food and hubby is not very picky! Mainly you do not want to waste money on foods that save time or are cheap if your family does not eat them!

Good evening pretty Rosa ♥ I miss my cats! When we moved we had to leave 2 of our cats behind. They were indoor/outdoor cats. We caught one of them and got it in the cage but it completely freaked out and broke the cage open and took off and we weren't able to find him. Our neighbor said they would take him in because he would always go to their house to get petted by her children. The other would not come up to us. I think he knew something was going on. But the other neighbor who moved into our old house loved both of the cats and also said he would keep them. Our Gray cat would always go into his house and take naps on his couch lol! We were only able to take the youngest one with us. He is a black and white Tuxedo!

Good morning pretty Rosa! I was a stay at home mother for years and I loved it. After they were older I went to college and went to work. I also loved that. I believe we have different seasons in our lives. When covid happen and jobs stopped was the first time I was upset and struggled. I think it was mostly due to it being out of my hands and not my choice. My husband and I discussed things in debts about the current ways of the world. And we made some huge decisions and we prayed a lot! We decided that we would put all our extra money towards paying off all our debt! After the debt was gone we started saving. We wanted to leave the state where we lived. It was not a good place to be. In 2023 we made offers on a few homes in different states after doing research on the locations. They kept falling through and this was very discouraging. We prayed about it and decided to wait until after spring to start looking again. That is when I received an email from Realtor.com about our house. We made an offer and it was accepted! We moved 1800 miles away with maybe 1/10th of our belongings, our cat and our dog. Once again I am at peace with my work/home life balance. Because we are debt free and also mortgage free ( we paid $23,000 cash for our house) our bills run about $300 a month so working 4 days a month pays for everything. Anything more we want I just work a little extra. I am a substitute teacher and can make my own schedule! In this season of my life I get to enjoy both worlds! God has been very good to us!

I left a 14-year career to be home full time with our children. I was the higher earner too. The adjustment required planning and many sacrifices and much faith, but the miracle was God provided a door with each challenge and reassurance that “all would be ok.” Our marriage grew in unforeseen ways too during that time. I’m very grateful for that especially. Sending much love your way and prayers that the answers you need will come. ❤

I have the red cast iron Dutch oven! I love it! LOL loving the bloopers! Yesterday I was making dinner! Found a new (old) recipe I had forgotten about. It is good for porkchops or chicken and super easy! I was making porkchops that I got marked down at the grocery. You combine 2 T mayo, 2T of spicy or ground mustard, 1t of minced garlic, and some dried parsley in a dish. In another dish you combine 1 t salt, 1 t pepper, 1/4 c oil, and 1 c bread crumbs/panko. You brush the sauce on the meat then coat in the breading mixture. Repeat with other side and bake. I did 350 degrees for about 40 minutes but I have a gas stove so it is hard to burn things in it! When I was putting all my ingredients away I had just used the parsley and was putting the lid back on and I dropped it. I had parsley everywhere! Half a bottle anyways!

Don't be discouraged! Sourdough starters can be tricky at first, but each attempt brings you closer to success. Texture is key. While following a feeding ratio is helpful, it’s just a guide. Your starter will look different on different days, depending on the type of flour, temperature, and the amount of time that has elapsed in between feedings. You’ve followed the feeding ratio, and if it's too thick, add more water; if it's too thin, add more flour. Aim for a texture like thick pancake batter. Keep going, and you'll get there!

When I was in Washington state there were a lot of ants. Here in the Upper Peninsula it is not such a problem. Mosquitos are horrible though! What is the peach delicious thing you have made? I watched a video a week or two ago and it spoke about foraging where you live and knowing what is available. We have been planting berries, grapes, rhubarb, potatoes, onion, garlic and so many things. I want to plant some fruit trees as well. We went on a hike on a trail in the woods about a block or so from our house. There is a creek and lots of apple trees that I saw there. Hubby is maybe half done with the tiny house and we bought a small wood stove from the neighbor for $10 last week! We will stay plenty warm if we lose power plus we could cook on it! Right now he is finishing up the wiring then he will put in the insulation. after that we will be putting in the sheet rock and siding. Painting and laying some flooring. After that he will need to add the built ins! And create the ladder for the loft! Everything is coming together nicely! We will be doing rain catchment a long with an outdoor shower and compost toilet! It will also be connected to solar. We have also been working on cleaning out an outbuilding and refitting it to house our animals. Hopefully this year we will be able to add a few goats and some rabbits to the chickens! I finally tried goat milk last week and it is delicious! The goats will be great for milk, cheese, butter, and yogurt. And of course clearing more property for us! Our chickens should hopefully start producing eggs possible this month or next! I am looking forward to not buying eggs at the store! All these things will reduce our grocery budget! Plus I like knowing where my food comes from! My mother wasn't happy when I told her our plans for getting rabbits. She lives in the city and thinks they are pets not dinner. We think they taste like chicken and are easy to raise and very affordable. They mature fast and multiple even faster. God is good to give us such plentiful ways to feed our bodies and a great book to feed our souls! I enjoyed your message today ! Your garden looks fabulous! As for ants google offers numerous ideas! Diatomaceous earth will get rid of them and is safe for humans and pets. Planting mint in your garden could help. Ants do not like it! Leftover dried coffee grounds can help plus it is good for your garden. I hope that helps! Stay blessed!

@@Pigmentscript Rosa what do squirrels taste like! We have a lot of them here. We have red black and brown ones. The believe the rabbits we will probably get are the silver fox breed. The pelts will be amazing! I want to make a blanket with them! We have chosen rabbits for food because it is such a low cost way to eat. The cost of food is horrible! I am so glad I cook by scratch because it saves so much money! Rabbits take up very little space. At 3 months they are mature and at 4 months the will have their first litter of 1 to 16 Kits (babies) As for the goats after being bred it takes about 5 months take deliver. They usually have 1-2 the first time. After having babies the will produce milk for about 2 years if milked regularly and then they have to be breed again! And of course we have our chicken. We had 6 laying hens but one surprisingly turned out to be a rooster which is fine because he can help grow the flock. Therefore any extra roosters can be eaten! It will be nice not to have to buy meat. We can also get kune kune pigs for food. They only get to be about 60 pounds.

@@Pigmentscript Thank you. All of my books are still packed up. I do not have a lot of books especially just regular books because I do not read them again. I know the ending! However, I do have an old family bible from my grandma on my dads side, a first aid book and a gardening book from my grandpa on my moms side that may need to be repaired!
